Job Title : Financial Accountant

Position Reports To: Team Lead – Financial Accounting (indirect reporting line to Head of Accounting & Financial Reporting)
Department: Accounting and Financial Reporting
Location: AGL Head Office, Maple House, Temple Road, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.
Background:
Allianz Global Life dac (“AGL”) is a rapidly growing cross-border life insurer with products sold into the French, Italian and German markets, and, more recently Greek and Lithuanian markets. It also reinsures a portfolio of variable annuities sold in Taiwan and Japan. Its goal is to expand into other markets over the coming years, while also continuing to expand its product range. It currently writes unit linked, variable annuity and protection business.
Main Purpose of the Job:
· To prepare IFRS reporting to time and quality standards, including appropriate control evidence and enabling sufficient senior review opportunities.
· To assure accurate accounting for the allocated branches under IFRS, and under Local GAAP for adherence to tax reporting obligations across multiple European Jurisdictions.
Key Performance Measures:
· Responsible for the entire quarter end close including the review and posting of all required journal entries for various European Branches within Group closing deadlines, to ensure compliance with Group accounting standards;
· Support in enhancing the control environment surrounding closing activities;
· Responsible for the preparation of local statutory results on a quarterly basis for European branches of the Company;
· Support the planning process of the company;
· Liaise with Group centres to ensure all Group reporting requirements are met;
· Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements, including preparation of supporting documentation and information required by external auditors;
· Stay up to date with all changes to Group, IFRS and local statutory reporting and ensure full compliance with these.
· Ensure all tax obligations (Corporation, VAT, Withholding taxes etc.) are met.
Key Customers:
Internal - AGL Finance Department including CFO (Regulatory reporting, accounting tasks, and management reporting), Group Accounting, AZ Group functions and host Oes
External - Central Bank of Ireland, Auditor (Analysis for Financials), Tax Service Provider, Third party administrator
Business Competencies:
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, recognised accounting qualification either fully achieved or near final stage of completion (ACA, ACCA, etc).
Professional Competence:
3+ years professional experience in accounting or similar.
Product & Technical Knowledge:
· SAP Accounting system.
· Knowledge of life assurance products.
Management:
Self-manage multiple priorities, routine work and urgent issues.
Commercial Awareness:
Clear understanding of key business processes and strategic goals.
