We are looking for an Environmental Liability Risk Consultant. This role will be remote, but candidates must reside in Canada or the United States and have the ability to travel extensively.
Your Team
Our Allianz Risk Consulting (ARC) team is made up of experienced engineers from a wide range of technical and scientific disciplines. The team provides a flexible range of risk consulting services, from natural hazards, fire safety, and human and organizational risk factors to in-depth analysis of industry operations, and financial exposures, across all industry sectors and risks. We also focus on delivering bespoke training plans to help optimize risk management procedures in the long term.
We can call on many years of specific business risk experience – creating tailor-made risk management services to respond to unique challenges.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the ARC Liability Regional Manager, North America, this position is responsible for providing environmental liability risk analysis reports and consulting to AzC’s Liability underwriters about large corporate clients involving complex environmental risks in a wide variety of industries including product manufacturing, chemical, agricultural, construction, oil & gas, utilities, and real estate operations. Conduct desk-top-assessments (DTAs), risk dialogues, and on-site visits (when required) to the facilities of existing and prospect corporate clients in order to perform environmental liability exposure analysis and risk identification in various industries and big project developments and provide the underwriters with reports, technical insights and risk ratings based on the AzC risk appetite and tolerance. Maintain professional working relationships with Underwriting, Market Management, Claims, clients, and brokers on a regional and global level as required
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
Perform environmental and expertise-related liability risk assessment Desk Top Assessments of existing or prospect AzC clients; assess Phase I/II ESA, Soil/Groundwater Monitoring, Environmental Impacts, and Remediation reports; evaluate environmental liability exposures based on the existing regulatory framework, industry best practices, the ARC risk matrix guidelines, AzC risk tolerance, internal guidelines (Functional Rules) and common sense; and summarize identified risks and mitigation controls to provide Liability underwriters with technical reports, insights, and qualitative risk ratings.
Assist AzC functions (Underwriting, Claims, Marketing, etc.) and clients by providing as required with scientific and technical insights in current and emerging environmental risks about various industries, products, and technical applications. Provide technical training of UWing teams or ARC cross-LoBs on specific or emerging risks. Communicate and share technical expertise with various stakeholders. Provide presentations and training sessions for AzC and client representatives. Contribute to White Papers development and other articles/brochures/studies published by ARC Liability.
Generate and review required reports and recommendations. Meet reporting deadlines in accordance with departmental performance objectives.
Carry out risk dialogues or site surveys, when required, to obtain appropriate data, identify hazards, and discuss findings with appropriate parties in order to evaluate environmental liability exposures involving complex risks related with large accounts, project development, multiple client sites, or multi line operations.
Actively assist and contribute ARC Liability and EIL global team with respect to ongoing or specific projects supporting AzC transformation and digitalization.
Implement all available digital tools, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, to enhance risk assessments and improve efficiency.
What You’ll Bring to the Role –
Minimum 3 years’ experience in environmental management, consulting, and/or contaminated site assessments. Additional professional experience in another discipline is an asset.
Through education or experience have demonstrable knowledge and skills in relevant disciplines including engineering in environmental management, hydrogeology, environmental compliance, health and safety systems, waste management, chemical analysis, and occupational hygiene.
Proven experience working in risk management and loss prevention processes in industrial operations or in project driven environments.
Knowledge of environmental and/or Quality Management Systems ISO 9001 and 14001. Knowledge of ISO 31000 and 45001 is an asset.
Experience in field execution and management of Phase I/II/III ESAs and remediation projects as well as in the execution or management of sediment assessments, designated substance surveys and/or air emission surveys would be considered an asset.
Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering (other disciplines may be considered if they fulfill the rest of the requirements).
If located in Canada, fluent in French.
A demonstrable engineering/technical expertise. Able to work technical loss control topics.
Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines as they apply to the North America (USA and Canada) businesses and projects.
Written and verbal communication skills. Presentation skills in a varied environment. Organizational and interpersonal skills.
Competent user of the Office365 environment; understanding of principles of Data Analytics and keen used of AI agents.
Commitment to maintaining knowledge of developments and new technologies in field including AI and principles of data analytics.
The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-today tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable. A willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role, and the broader organization is expected.
Ability to travel extensively.
The annualized base pay range for this role is $95,00 to $115,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
