Job description

JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

As a member of the Data Warehouse product development team in Global BI and Big Data, you will leverage your Data Warehousing (DW) experience and expertise to support the development of shared solutions to the Allianz entities worldwide. Duties include: DW development and testing; partner with our nearshore and offshore development teams; authoring technical, user and operations documentation; actively communicating and interact with different stakeholders, namely business analysts, architecture, data security authority, platform engineering, operations teams, feeding systems teams and external like SW Vendors; and perform other tasks as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop ETL software using PL/SQL, SQL and SAS for DW and other solutions that require data provision

Work with the product owner and business analysts to fully understand the business requirements and assure that the project deliverables are fulfilling these

Commit as a team member to a self-organized team managed in SCRUM

Prepare test cases and strategies for unit testing, system and integration testing

Perform code reviews to identify basic technical and logical errors

Besides regular product development, address any vulnerability, deviation or breached identified after release

Further responsibilities

Participate, as a product consultant, in customer implementation projects

Follow the software development processes that are in place like version management, build and deployment management

Actively drive standardization and optimization of software development

Collaborate with and leverage new colleagues and near-offshore development teams

Develop best practices to improve productivity and utilize programming principles, tools, and techniques to write solution codes

KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Academic background

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field

1 to 3 years’ experience in Data Warehouse in an enterprise environment

Knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL and one or many ETL tools

Work experience with enterprise databases as a developer (Oracle preferable)

Demonstrated experience with software development life cycle methodologies, including agile

Worked in environments that demand fast paced effective delivery under tight timeline/budget

Self-driven with an ability to work closely with business analysts and development team to work towards quality product rollout

Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills

Effective at managing multiple issues with conflicting priorities under tight deadlines

High energy, innovative individual who is motivated by challenging assignments

Comfortable working independently, but has experience working in a team environment

Excellent communication skills, interpersonal, oral, and written

Insurance or Finance Industry experience preferred

Very good command of English language

Desired requirements /skills /experience

Experience in SAS Enterprise Data Management suite and SAS programming/macros

Change data capture and real-time replication/real-time ETL (Attunity, DataGuard, GoldenGate, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI))

Use of Web Services for data exchange (SOAP, XML)

Experience in at least one reporting/OLAP tool such as Microstrategy, SAS Visual Analytics, Cognos, Business Objects

Understanding and interest in Hadoop and “non-classic” DW/BI approaches

Strong aptitude and desire to learn new technologies and tools

German language skills
