JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Inputting and maintaining accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AGCS Claims administration systems
Managing timely production of management information reports (eg: monthly major claims movements)
Investigating standard Marine claims including coverage determination and evaluation of loss exposures
Selecting and directing external service providers(eg Surveyors)
Proactively discussing and reviewing contentious, large and complex claims with fellow handlers and management to obtain opinions/feedback
Negotiating and resolving standard Marine claims ensuring cost effective, service oriented solutions
Ensuring unpursued claims are settled in accordance with settlement guidelines
Driving effective subrogation/salvage processes
Ensuring all claims handled within authority limits and in line with AGCS Claims complex procedures and guidelines
Referring cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate
Supporting the establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters
Assisting in audits of external service providers as appropriate
Proactively liaise with Market Management on market management initiatives
Attending industry functions and positively representing AGCS externally to the market
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external business partners
Effectively reporting and presenting complex and contentions claims information internally and externally
Relationship Management
Proactively driving involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g. Underwriting, MMC, ARC, Operations
Developing and maintaining relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. Third Party Adjusters)
Reporting loss information internally and externally
KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Degree preferred
Minimum 1 to 3 years: Proven track record in Claims handling. Understanding of Ocean Cargo products and portfolio with some technical specialist knowledge
Management of systems (e.g. WINS)
Minimum 1 to 3 years: Ocean Cargo Claims handling
Minimum 1 to 3 years: Understanding of regional/local Ocean Cargo insurance markets and competitor landscapes
Minimum 1 to 3 years: Understanding of legal and regulatory framework
Products and Coverages: Understanding in relevant products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages - specifically Ocean Cargo claims.
Claims Handling: Knowledge of Ocean Cargo claims handling process from notification to settlement and recovery.
Reserving: Knowledge Ocean Cargo reserving principles and practices
Litigation: Understanding of relevant legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (e.g. mediation)
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze highly complex data from multiple sources in detail and identify and resolve issues before they transpire
Negotiation and Conflict Management: Ability to negotiate best position for AGCS and the client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of involved parties
#Communication and Presentation: Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally. Ability to "sell" an improvised or prepared audience winning story.
Office Applications: Use general office application tools e.g. Power Point, Excel, Word
