JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Development, maintenance and documentation of stochastic loss models for Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) business
Responsibility for natural catastrophe (nat cat) modeling in the ART portfolio
Support ART Underwriting with actuarial pricing, data analyses and risk modeling for new underwriting cases or in ad hoc projects
Perform peer reviews on analytic work from other modelers and analysts in CUOC ART
Promote close collaboration and interaction with the various business areas (ART Underwriting, Reinsurance, Cat Risk Management, Risk Management etc.) to foster mutual understanding of the risk drivers in the ART portfolio and in individual transactions
KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Education & Experience
University degree / professional designation in one or more of the following areas: Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics or similar quantitative field
Willingness to work towards an Actuarial qualification
Basic experience in actuarial data analysis, risk modeling and/or pricing
Basic experience in natural catastrophe modeling

Technical Skills
Computer skills (MS Office), incl. expert systems such as RMS
Quantitative financial and risk modeling (incl. natural catastrophe risk modeling) know-how and skills
Basic (re)insurance (ideally P&C) and finance know-how as well as basic understanding of (re)insurance products

General Skills
Analytical Thinking and Numeracy: Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations.
Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing)
Influencing Others: The ability to positively influence others' actions, decisions, opinions or thinking resulting in positive outcomes. Ability to persuade and motivate others without direct authority.
Problem Solving: Ability to identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues that can be abstract / ambiguous and follow through on their remediation.
