What you do:
This position involves supporting senior members of the team and the portfolio managers in daily Investment Operations with focus on listed assets including Corporate Bonds, Munis, Structured Securities, and Agency MBS. You will learn the lifecycle of investments and support the ongoing operations and expansion of AIM’s listed portfolio and processes. This includes trade settlement and processing, reconciling, and investment and accounting reporting.
The role requires the desire to learn from others on the team. This role needs analytic and communication skills, attention to detail and a general understanding of financial markets and investment principles. You will report into the AIM AVP – Investment Operations.
- Trade and Position Review: Facilitate the timely and accurate booking of trades and resulting positions, ensuring that all trades are reflected on Allianz's books and records (IBOR, ABOR) observing regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
- Cash Management: Monitor cash balances and ensure that all cash transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile portfolio data against custodian and asset manager statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Investment Strategy Execution: Work with internal investment managers and external asset managers to ensure that investment strategies are booked timely and accurately demonstrating knowledge of the governing documents of the investment mandates.
- Reporting: Produce reports to provide insight into accounting, compliance and risk management, and operational efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Investment Operations Controls: Monitor and ensure sound investment operational controls both internally and with external asset managers over core processes including trade settlement, cash, and related reconciliations.
- Relationship Management: Building strong relationships internally and with asset managers is critical to the success of this role.
- Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI).
What you bring:
- 1+ year of experience required: Relevant internship experience or part-time job in the financial industry. Strong analytical, quantitative, critical thinking skills, and pays attention to details.
- Four year degree required: Finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes holders of H-1B, H4, L-1, L-2, TN, OPT, CPT, and other nonimmigrant visas.
