Description of the job

A vacancy for a Zephyr Training Manager has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Farnborough.

The Airbus Zephyr is a world record beating solar-powered drone. It works by flying on solar power during the day which charges up batteries to enable it to fly at night. Zephyr has been an R & D project for a number of years and is now going into full scale production. The role of the Production Training Manager is to establish a training environment which will support the rapidly expanding production workforce.
The successful applicants will report to the Head of HAPS Production and join the TUMZM business unit in Farnborough, Hampshire, UK.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Provide Strategy and Guidance to develop the production training plan to support the rapidly expanding workforce.
·  Maintain a competency skills matrix for production and management staff.
·  Plan and maintain a training calendar to support production activities and the wider programme.
·  Liaise and manage external training providers
·  Liaise with key stakeholders in: Production, Product Assurance, Quality and Engineering to align production training needs with ongoing programme activities
·  Co-ordinate with a variety of internal and external bodies to ensure compliance to standards. This may involve development of demonstrable standards where appropriate
·  Future implementation of training competencies to SAP compliance / digital work sign off

Required skills

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

·  Minimum HNC plus demonstrable experience of teaching/training in an engineering environment.

Skill Set - Mandatory

·  Implementation and demonstrable evidence of delivery of large scale training programmes
·  Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining across the training lifecycle
·  Experience in training needs analysis
·  Project management skills
·  Working with business and academia to implement and drive long-term training plans

Preferable

·  Knowledge of composite materials, avionics, equipment & testing.
·  Aircraft production techniques and standards bodies
·  Knowledge of learning technologies – Learning Management Systems / eLearning
·  Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing & Production digitalization

Other Skills:

·  Security Cleared or ability to obtain SC Clearance
·  Experience working in an international and multi-cultural environment
·  Good communication skills
·  Knowledge of aeronautical sector.
