Description of the job

A vacancy for a Software Test Automation Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth.

The Software Test Engineer is required to automate the testing of key product work packages within the SatCom Network Management group.
The applicant will be an exceptional automation test engineer with a proven delivery record. Tasks include:

·  Creation and execution of automated test procedures from both manual test procedures and system/sub-system requirements specifications / user story behaviour descriptions.
·  Design, build, test and deploy effective test automation solutions
·  Automation tool to selection based on group strategy.
·  Creation of an automated regression suite.
·  Creation of automation reports and analysis of results to report testing effectiveness.

The automation of test procedures will complement the existing manual test team, and will be an important function within the test team.

The engineer will be involved in multiple (and parallel) work packages and so must be organised and efficient in his/her day-to-day activities. He/she must be able to recognise and respond to priority calls when necessary, and also work well under pressure. The engineer shall have experience of software developments using the Agile methodology and preferably, knowledge of Network Management Systems. The engineer must be able to communicate well with stakeholder personnel (e.g. internal and external customers), as well as with other members of the team.
The engineer must be a quick learner, be able to work independently, as well as in a team, and ideally have experience in creating and executing manual tests as there may be a need to assist in manual testing campaigns as and when required.

Experience in various automation tool suites is essential - ideally Selenium, Ranorex, Cucumber

The successful applicant will join Satcom Network Management Group.

The successful candidate will need to be eligible to gain UK SC Security Clearance to undertake the role.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Creating a regression suite which can be run quickly and regularly
·  Converting manual scripts into automated scripts
·  Design, build, test and deploy effective test automation solutions
·  Ensuring that the quality and integrity of the Product is maintained in all releases
·  Task estimation in accordance with sprint planning.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

The following key technical skills are required:

·  Degree level education
·  Strong test automation skills within a continuous integration environment.
·  Proven experience in evaluation of automation tools
·  Manual testing experience
·  Strong experience in one of Ranorex, Selenium, Cucumber
·  Issue tracking systems
·  Knowledge of BDD within an agile environment.
