Description of the job

A vacancy for a Programme Manager - Combat Training (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join “TACI - Programme Management Combat Services“.

Tasks & accountabilities

The Programme Manager will be in charge of:

- Ensuring the implementation of operative planning targets within the Training Department Combat Aircraft
- Contributing to the strategic goals of Airbus Defence and Space / Combat Services through increasing market shares by implementing concepts and products along future trends and market

Major Roles and Responsibilities:
¤ Strategy
- Develop and implement strategies to further enhance Combat Aircraft Training business with the aim of active market management in order to establish long-term customer relationships
- Provide operational military expertise to the Combat Aircraft Training Programme Management in further expanding current EF training media and services for pilot and technician training (e.g. to new combat customers for NGWS, future TOR and/or export customers)

¤ Sales support / business development / product planning
- Support business development activities incl. contributing to associated product strategies
- Explore and assess on new operational capabilities, associated training technologies and trends to be adapted into our Airbus products and associated Training aids
- Support associated business development activities based on the overall Airbus Defence and Space product strategies
- Define product / services strategies for future business development activities

¤ Programme and Project Management
- Support Combat Aircraft Services programme and project management according to the requirements
- Define future training solutions including live, virtual and synthetic training media
- Define and perform training and In-Service Support
- Support future formal bid responses with a global and overarching operational analysis

¤ Customer relationship management
- Connect and liaise to the German Airforce operational wings, staff and their respective national Minister of Defence and Procurement Offices to elaborate on current and future operational training needs
- Enhance customer network to support customer planning process

¤ Reporting and Cooperation with other stakeholders
- Execute adequate reporting on progress and/or deviations to the Head of Training Combat Aircraft Services
- Collaborate closely with other internal stakeholders

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- University Degree in Management, Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent (e.g. civil servant - senior service)
- Longer term experience in German Air Force (e.g. officer, general staff officer) - preferably with an operational expertise and/or a deep knowledge in combat aircraft operations and Military Aircrew Training
- Sound staff experience in Armed Forces / MOD / procurement offices
- Customer oriented with excellent communication and influencing skills
- Program management / product development expertise
- Sound experience in engineering and project management
- Proven ability to manage complexity in working with / leading of interdisciplinary teams - both, national and international; business oriented including development and growth
- Fluent German and English
- PMP certification, Airbus internal certification would be a plus
- Preferred Technical knowledge areas:
¤ Modern combat weapon systems primarily Eurofighter
¤ Real time and event based high fidelity simulators for military applications
¤ Training needs for OCU and tactics and mission training combat pilots
¤ Training development and delivery including associated regulations
- Willingness to take frequent business trips
