About Us:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice Technician within Airbus Cyber Security in Newport, South Wales. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you will manage the build, test and repair of a variety of communication products following Airbus test procedures.

Being a Higher Technical Apprentice at Airbus means you will get to develop both mechanical and electrical skills within our programme. You will be immersed in a stimulating design and manufacturing environment.
Over the course of 3 years, you will study towards an HNC in Engineering with the possibility of attaining an HND should you be eligible. You will also attain a level 4 standard, which will run alongside the HNC course, gaining both academic knowledge and practical experience on this apprenticeship.
What you will you be doing:
During your apprenticeship you will have a unique chance to experience different areas of our cyber business, which provide you with a comprehensive understanding of how Airbus Defence & Space works. This includes the following:

Build, test and repair of complex low volume communication products, following existing assembly and test procedures
·
Maintain product assembly and test records.
·
Support the team in demonstrating that the developed product meets all specified requirements to the documentation provided for the product
·
Ensure that cost, time and quality targets are achieved for allocated tasks
·
Build and Repair PCBA’ to IPC standards
·
Assist in fault diagnosis of products that fail in the process or at test
·
Manage essential spares stock of components, Line Replaceable Items (LRIs), parts, tools & Test Equipment.
Additionally:
·
You will be be introduced to opportunities to succeed and extend your limits during college, work based and extra curricular events such as the obligatory Outward Bound week
·
As you progress through your apprenticeship your responsibility increases to levels requiring 'UK Eyes Only' security clearance.
Requirements:
In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:
48 UCAS tariff points gained from one of the following:
·
A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering (ideally with a Merit profile)
·
At least 2 A levels
·
Other related Level 3 qualifications
·
An Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an approved further education institution
AND
·
GCSEs grades at A*/9 to C/4 which must include Maths and English Language (or equivalent)
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

Submit your CV stating your grades and if they are predicted or achieved
·
Submit a Cover Letter stating your motivations
·
Related work experience
·
An international equivalent of the above
·
Passion for engineering, which you will be able to demonstrate through your educational choices or hobbies. For example, you may have been part of an engineering club at school or perhaps you enjoy fixing mechanical and electrical things in your spare time.
Important Information:
GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the position’s requirements before the apprenticeship start date.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
Our apprenticeship roles do not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration to enable sponsorship of migrant workers.
