Description of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Loads and Aeroelastics department in Airbus Filton to join the Wing Component Loads and Component Dynamics team. This is a mutually supportive and experienced team of experts, specialists and integrators who work closely together with other Loads Integrators, Finite Element Model (FEM) & Stress colleagues, Chief Engineers, Experts to provide the relevant external wing and wing subcomponent loads for all Airbus Aircraft programmes, from preliminary design through to certification.
Being at the interface between the two Engineering Centres of Structures and Flight Physics, this is an excellent opportunity to learn about and contribute to the wing loads/stress/design process.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Wing Component Loads and Component Dynamics.
Desired profile
Tasks & accountabilities
· Understand, capture and consolidate requirements for the FEM loading and stress design and ensure the overall aircraft loads calculation process is shaped to meet these requirements
· Calculate, interpret and deliver static and fatigue external loads acting on the Wing(Box) Component(s) in adherence with relevant airworthiness regulations, quality processes and programme assumptions
· Support to the specific design teams in their use of this data
· Support structural and flight test campaigns for certification and loads monitoring on major components
· Contribute to aircraft optimization through sensitivity studies and component advice for structural design

Required skills
We are seeking an enthusiastic and team oriented individual who enjoy working in a fast-paced/changing and often complex project environment.
Education/technical:
· A Engineering/STEM degree or equivalent relevant experience welcome
· Good understanding of (flight) physics
· Unix/Linux, MS Office
· Desirable - NASTRAN/PATRAN (or experience using similar pre/post modelling processor), MATLAB or Python desirable
Other:
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and intercultural awareness
· Natural curiosity and aptitude to problem solving and innovation
· High regard for quality compliance and attention to details
· Adaptable to changing customer needs
· Negotiation level in English.
· Some experience of project management desirable
