Project / Programme Manager for NGWS within FCAS (Next-Generation Weapon System within Future Combat Air System)
NGWS within FCAS started the execution of the second contractual phase of the program called “Phase 1B” in March 2023 which addresses the development of six R&T Demonstrator pillars and the execution of three transversal projects (Items) which cover the demonstration coordination at NGWS “System-of-Systems” level (Item 0 WS1), the operational NGWS architecture and associated assets (NGF and RC) delineation and consolidation (Item 0 WS2/WS3/WS5) as well as simulation (in line with pillar 5 “SIMLAB”).
Our strategic AIRBUS ambition in this program is to develop the optimal NGWS System-of-Systems architecture which will answer the challenges of future air warfare scenarios in highly contested environments, and to de-risk the program through a coherent SoS simulation and demonstration approach. NGWS SoS Program team is playing a key role in this strategy through Item 0 and Pillar 5 execution with the aim to leverage on the capability of multiple systems and therefore improve mission efficiency, speed, collaborative engagement, and optimizing cost and complexity of each independent system.
NGWS SoS Program team is looking for an experienced Program Management professional to drive the back-office program management activities of Ph1B Item 0 and Pillar 5 in Spain in this System-of-Systems domain.
The successful candidate will act as back-office Program Manager supporting Airbus DS SAU Program Manager, interacting with Spanish customers and partners and ensuring coordination among the different Airbus DS SAU Item 0 and Pillar 5 stakeholders.
Main Tasks
· Support to NGWS Phase 1B contract delivery, covering ADS SAU contributions in Item 0 and Pillar 5 (SIMLAB)
· As part of the NGWS SoS team, support ADS SAU Item 0 and SIMLAB PM by ensuring information exchange and coordination among all Airbus DS SAU stakeholders, acting as a bridge between the Front-office activities in Saint-Cloud and back-office team in Getafe
· Supports the management of Item 0 and SIMLAB through the application of project management processes, methods and tools with support of PMO teams. Analyses, integrates and provides quantitative and qualitative data to support discussions and decision making at Program Management level and also supports effective communication and stakeholder management
· Support the PM execution activities (OQOTOC) towards successful delivery of the contracts with support of PMO teams, i.e. delivering the expected reports in time, cost and quality, are met in accordance with company commitments towards the customers.
· Report and escalate major findings and issues of Ph1B Item 0 execution to NGWS SoS Program Director through ADS SAU Item 0 and SIMLAB PM
· Extensive understanding of project and programme management principles, methods and techniques and the ability to apply them within the item 0 & SIMLAB teams
· Establish a close collaboration with Spanish Customer and Industry Stakeholders and internal business partners in Future Air Power.
· Deliver using AGILE methodologies within SIMLAB encompassing new ways of working (where appropriate / applicable).
Requirements – Qualifications
· Degree in Business administration, engineering or similar
· Airbus internal PM certification (at least Silver), PMP certification is highly desirable
· Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in the area of Program Management or Engineering/Technical with proven experience in set up of Engineering Technical Requirements/Statement of Work and associated discussion with partners, suppliers and internal stake holders.
· Proven experience in delivering to French, Spanish and/or German military customers and/or participation in relevant international development projects such as the A400M, Eurofighter, NH90, MRTT, etc…
· NGWS Security Clearance required
· Detailed understanding of Airbus DS portfolio having worked in various PLs (primarily Military Aircraft, UAS and CI) and ideally the System-of-Systems domain including Simulation
· Innovative and disruptive mind-set, able to apply agile PM solutions and challenge the ways of working, real experience in agile PM, ideally Scrum certification or similar
· Diplomatic skills managing international and multi-domain competencies, able to align potentially diverging requirements & views
· Ability to negotiate & influence using reasoned advocacy in order to gain buy-in as well as using facilitation techniques to manage situations of conflict.
· Inter-cultural openness (experience international cooperation, a broad ability to interact with other nationalities)
· Flexibility (work in evolving and changing environment, ready to travel, multinational teams)
· Spanish and English: negotiation level is mandatory; French and/or German is desirable.
· Security Clearance "NGWS restricted / NGWS secret" will be required
Site / Location: Getafe, Frequent travel to France will be required.
Main Tasks
The successful candidate will work within the NGWS SoS Team and be located in Getafe. Reporting line to the HO NGWS System of Systems:
• FCAS Phase 1B contract delivery, covering ADS SAU contributions in item 0 for workstreams 1 (NGWS Demonstration Consistency) and item 5 (Simlab)
• Drive and execute the day to day management of robust project/programme management jointly with partners (Dassault, Indra, others) and Airbus DS GmbH and Airbus DS SAS teams
• Lead the PM execution activities (OQOTOC) towards successful delivery of the contracts with support of PMO teams
• Extensive understanding of project and programme management principles, methods and techniques and the ability to apply them within the item 0 & item 5 teams
• Establish a close collaboration with international Stakeholders and business partners in FCAS.
• Deliver using AGILE methodologies encompassing new ways of working (where appropriate / applicable).
