What does this internship consists in?
Together with Camilo José Cela University, Airbus has developed an exclusive program (#DISCOVER) designed for those interested in the best training in new areas of knowledge essential to be able to develop as professionals of the future.
You will have the opportunity to study a Master, organized in three training blocks, that will allow you to DISCOVER the skills most in demand today. It will be combined with an 11 month internship at Airbus in an area related to your degree, where you can learn and complete your academic background.
The start of the internship will be in early October 2025, and will last 11 months (August disabled for all purposes). It is a full-time experience (40h/week), in which you will receive an attractive study grant.
Internship Job Description:
A new and exciting internship position has been created within the RFE (Rear Fuselage and Empennage) Industrial Architect team (OMFR). The mission of this team is to deliver optimized industrial systems capable of achieving performances through special studies, analysis and trade-offs.
About us:
We are a transnational team of 9 people working across Spain and Germany, with stakeholders located as well in France and the UK. This brings a rich and diverse environment to learn and grow.
Looking to the future we are actively involved in developing the best industrial systems for the next generation aircrafts in Airbus. With focus on the components of the RFE (Rear Fuselage and Empennage), the team will create the new build concepts to manufacture the new aircraft in the most efficient way. In addition, we will influence the design of the aircraft to ensure the manufacturability of the new aircraft concepts.
With the aviation market growing, a particular challenge for Airbus is to meet the increased demand for Aircraft. The focus for the architects team is to ensure the Airbus Industrial Systems will deliver the rate (production speed) requirement currently and in the future whilst maintaining the cost and quality targets.
The main tasks and responsibilities will include:
As an Industrial Architect graduate you will have an opportunity to gain experience across the Tailplanes (HTP and VTP) and Rear Fuselage components. The tasks will be varied and require you to use different skills (technical, leadership and project management) in order to complete them successfully. During your time in the department you may get the opportunity to work on both future development projects as well as current programme developments. You will be expected to show energy, get engaged with the community and build relationships and network.
During your time in the department you will gain a broad understanding of manufacturing principles, as well as developing some specific technical competencies including:
· Support to a Pre-Industrial Accelerator Project in the RFE perimeter, that aims industrial readiness for the launch and ramp-up of our future programmes.
· Support Value Stream Analysis and Mapping for a new industrial set-up before the programme launch.
· Support rate capacity analysis using concepts such as Takt Time, Cycle Time, Lead Time, OEE, saturation, etc.
· Support the maturation of a new Industrial Ramp-up Simulation tool by reflecting the industrial set-up in the tool and analyzing the simulation results.
· Support Lean Line Design deployment: applying lean principles, concepts and methodology for an industrialization phase.
· Support for Industrial Performance Assessments.
· Supports potential Digital Tools Deployment under Digital Factory Scope (i.e. Virtual Reality for Industrialization, 3DExperience, Digital Twins…).
In this role, you will be able to develop your leadership skills by having the opportunity to negotiate and influence stakeholders in order to gain buy-in and make decisions. You will also develop your project management skills by supporting project planning, risk management, progress control and reporting.
