Launch an exciting career by joining our Airbus Apprenticeship programme! Our Apprentices receive second to none training, gaining the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to enable you to make an immediate contribution when you enter the workforce.

An Airbus Craft Apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to gain qualifications with no fees, whilst acquiring new skills through vocational training, and a regular salary.

As an Aerostructures Craft Apprentice at Airbus you will gain a Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma (Aeronautical Engineering) and a National Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.

On completion of the 38 month programme you will become a Skilled Aircraft Fitter working on the drill off and assembly of both metallic and composite components to produce the wing box structure on our world class Airbus aircraft.

Craft Apprentices on the Aerostructures programme study at Coleg Cambria (Deeside Campus) to achieve their qualifications, and their industry based work takes place at our world leading aircraft manufacturer site in Broughton, (near Chester) North Wales.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your first year on the Aerostructures Craft Apprenticeship programme will be spent completing the Level 2 aspect of the course at Coleg Cambria, learning about engineering operations, and achieving a number of technical units towards your national diploma.

Our Aerostructures Craft Apprentices then go on to join a skilled Airbus team, working within the wing production areas on 6 month rotations to allow you to gain all the relevant skills to complete your qualifications, whilst attending college on a day release programme to complete your national diploma.

During your time in the Airbus factory, Aerostructures Craft Apprentices are involved in manufacturing the wings of the A380, A350, A330 and the Single Aisle family.

Tasks you'll carry out as part of your role in the factory will include;

·  The setting of templates and jigs,

·  Drilling off and assembly of the wing box components (spars, stringers, ribs, pylon, wing skins).

Required skills

In order to be eligible for this exciting apprenticeship opportunity, you must have a minimum of:

·  Five GCSEs at Grade C or 4, which must include Maths, English Language and Science (either core and additional / double award, or Physics if Science was taken as individual subjects).

We can consider other qualifications such as Engineering BTEC Level 2, Engineering Diploma, Principle Learning, PEO Level 2 and Pathways to Apprenticeships as two GCSEs. Alternative qualifications must be in addition to the core GCSE subjects stated above.
