Telecommunications and Network engineer
Summary
The Telco & Network Engineer is responsible for providing direct services in the installation, use upgrade, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of computer systems, network and telecommunication infrastructure.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
*Designs, installs, upgrades, configures and repairs local and wide area network hardware and infrastructure for the company and its business partners.
*Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network problems.
*Prepares budget needed for networking needs.
*Evaluates, tests, and recommends appropriate technology, assists in the preparation of proposals and solutions presentations
*Maintains and administers perimeter security systems such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
*Installs and maintains Cisco routers, Cisco switches, and Adaptive Security Appliances.
*Tests new computer/router/switch hardware and software solutions prior to implementation.
*Installs and tests computers and related network hardware in a networked environment.
*Installs and tests approved software and software upgrades in a networked environment.
*Coordinates development and maintenance of systems and networking infrastructure.
*Develops and coordinates network replacement plan.
*Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for all development, production networks with detailed maps.
*Maintains, supports and monitors all aspects of the Cisco Voice infrastructure - CCX and CUCM.
*Phone system administration (Corporate, Shipping and Corporate Doctor's Offices).
*Auditing telecom invoices.
*Assists in vendor selection and contract negotiations for voice and data services.
*Managing the daily phone reports.
*Provide support for the conference rooms.
*Voice and data circuit MACDs.
*Maintains, installs and provides support for video conferencing services.
*Maintains and supports corporate call recording solution.
*Secondary Support for corporate NMS systems (i.e. Solar Winds)
*Administrate corporate authentication services (i.e. Radius, tokens)
*Liaison with other department representatives as well as foreign office to provide networking solutions.
*Trains site coordinators with simple network troubleshooting techniques.
*24X7 on call support.
*Plans, designs and implements network and voice solutions for the company's European Conferences.
*Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics.
*Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques used in administering complex network environment.
*Strong networking skills i.e. F5, Routers and Switches
*Customer Service skills
*Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
*Analytical and problem solving skills.
*Attentiveness to detail.
*Ability to make correct timely decisions.
*Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Willingness to work non-standard hours as needed
*Ability to travel as required.
Experience & Education
*Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or other relevant field.
*Minimum CCNA in networking and voice certified.
*Minimum of 3 to 5 years directly related work experience in networking, security administration\ engineering.
*Strong analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills are essential.
*Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential.
*Prior hands-on professional experience must include Windows 2008, Windows 2003, Windows XP, and Checkpoint Firewalls R75.20 or higher, Cisco ASA; Linux experience would be a plus but is not mandatory.
Strong knowledge of operating systems including Windows 2008, Windows 2003, Windows XP, UNIX, CISCO CUCM, SPLAT, CISCO CCX, and VMware
*Proficient in Microsoft Professional Applications Word, Excel, Power Point, and Visio.
*Ability to communicate in another European language would be advantageous (German, Italian).
