Senior User Researcher

Job description

Senior User Researcher required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 6 month contract, paying £650 a day, inside IR35, hybrid working.

Skills & experience required

- Conduct interviews with key stakeholders to understand business objectives, service usage, and expectations of the service.

- Engage with users to gather insights on their experiences, challenges, and suggestions for improvements.

- Observe users in their natural work environment to understand how they interact with the service and identify any workarounds or inefficiencies.

- Distribute surveys to a broader user base to collect quantitative data on user satisfaction, common issues, and feature usage.

- Conduct usability tests on the system to identify specific usability issues and understand how users navigate the system.

- Analyse the tasks users perform with the system to identify critical workflows and understand how these can be improved.

- Perform a heuristic evaluation to identify usability problems in the system based on established usability principles.

- Work with the service designer to create user journey maps to visualise the end-to-end experience of users interacting with the system and identify key pain points and opportunities for improvement

- Review existing feedback, such as support tickets, user reviews, and system logs, to identify recurring issues and user sentiment.

- Use card sorting techniques to understand how users categorise information, which can help in restructuring the information architecture of the new system.

- Organise and categorise qualitative data from user research activities into themes and patterns to identify key insights.

- Analyse system usage data and metrics to identify usage patterns, peak times, and areas that need improvement.
