Main Purpose:

The Accounts Department comprises 5 members of staff and is supported by a consultant finance officer. You will act as the Payroll Administrator for 250+ full and part-time staff.

Main Duties

·  Preparation and input of all monthly payroll items including allowances, deductions and calculations of part time employees' salaries

·  Printing and distribution of monthly payslips

·  Recording of employee information, such as resignations, contractual changes, new starters, personal details in order to maintain up to date records on current payroll software

·  Reconcile payroll accounts to maintain accuracy or detect errors or anomalies

·  Input of all salary changes as notified by the Personnel Department

·  Preparing and submitting the monthly teaching and non-teaching pensions and AVCs return

·  Inland Revenue return, reconciling accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness and compliance of regulations, ensuring that the school complies with Real Time Information submissions and production of P11Ds

·  Keep informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process

·  Ensuring the school complies with current auto-enrolment pension requirements

·  Salary sacrifice arrangements

·  Collection of Gender Pay census information

·  Attend relevant seminars and workshops to ensure relevant and current skills and knowledge are maintained and applied to role

·  Completion of various annual statistical reports for external bodies

·  Undertaking any reasonable tasks from time to time associated with the running of the Accounts Office

·  Maintaining a positive and effective working relationship with employees and other internal and external bodies contacted in the course of work, communicating clearly and concisely both orally and in written form

·  Remaining flexible in working attitude towards payroll changes - pay frequency, method, pay dates, dispensations, computer software, and to organisational changes

·  Experience of administrating and processing payroll for a similar sized organisation

·  Experience of working within a confidential environment

·  Experience of working with Pensions and understanding the differing schemes and monthly returns

·  Experience of working within a school environment

·  Suitable payroll qualification AAT/NVQ Level 2, IPP, IAB or equivalent
