Melt Shop Operative

Job description

We are currently recruiting Melt Shop Operatives on behalf our well established client Celsa Steel UK. The largest manufacturer of steel reinforcement in the UK based in Cardiff.
Job duties will include: Follow established procedures and guidelines to manufacture the organisation's products according to established safety and quality standards; production specifications and schedules; and volume, cost, and wastage targets.
Key Accountabilities :
* Operate machines and production equipment safely and in accordance with instructions.
* Monitor the quality of output to identify, discard, or re-manufacture faulty products.
* Maintain accurate daily production records so that manufacturing performance can be analysed.
* Monitor the volume and quality of output and adjust tasks, timing, equipment set-up, or inputs so that production specifications are met and resources are used efficiently.
* Train workers in the organisation's operating procedures and standards. Provide guidance and supervision for new entrants.
* Undertake rigorous investigatory reports for defective actions/situations where appropriate.
* Work collaboratively with other team members and shifts to ensure effective running of the process.
* Work in a safe manner and have a proactive approach to all Health & Safety and environmental issues.
* Promote/support Total Quality Management and Continuous Improvement activities in the area.
* Adapt /adopt the new methods of working and/or new technology the Company introduces and undergo training as the Company directs.

The person:
The candidate should have experience of working within a team to achieve the required deadlines in line with the specifications provided and have an awareness of health and safety requirements.
Have previous manufacturing/engineering experience.
