Debt Recovery Support Officer

We are currently seelking a Debt Recovery professional for a local authority

·  Level 1 - An understanding of the debt recovery process and how customer information contributes to this

·  Level 1 - Basic understanding of the legal framework around debt collection

·  Level 1 - Understanding of why housing benefits overpayments, Housing former tenant arrears, Sundry debt or Council tax debt occurs

·  Level 2 - Understanding of reconciliation processes as they apply to a debt recovery situation A/I

·  Level 1 - Ability to respond effectively in writing, via the telephone or face to face, to all customers, landlords and third party enquiries and meet service standards and targets, which may involve some research

·  Level 1 - Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling customer enquiries and other information in line with Council requirements, the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act

·  Level 1 - Ability to build strong relationships with working partners to drive performance

·  Level 1 - Ability to maintain real-time data information systems

·  Level 1 - Ability to manage caseload to meet performance targets

·  Level 2 - Ability to reconcile financial transactions to appropriate ledgers

·  Level 2 - Ability to run and compile report

·  Level 1 - Experience of working in a fast paced target orientated transactional environment and proven track record of achieving set targets

·  Level 1 - Experience of maintaining real-time customer database systems

·  Level 1 - Experience of using the North gate system, Oracle or Ohms

·  Level 1 - Excellent attention to detail and ability to check and process high volumes of customer information correctly

·  Level 2 - Experience of preparing cases for bulk tracing

·  Level 2 - Experience of analysing data and making informed recommendations in terms of debt consolidation

·  Level 2 - Experience of invoice query management

·  Maybe required to work outside of core hours, including evenings, as needed in line with the operating model and changes to service delivery

·  Will be required to participate in the councils civil emergency exercises and be part of the 24 hour call out in the event of system failures or corporate crisis
