The Materials Controller is responsible for carrying out several tasks at a site or multiple customer sites in a region, all of which can include but not limited to, inventory management & metric review, purchasing, receiving, chemical tracking, storeroom management, product delivery and general customer services activities. The Materials Controller requires knowledge and application of SAP, VSR+, Excel and Power Point.
RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Facilitates orders for consumable lab inventory replenishment; enters order into VSR+
§ Performs all customer site specific tasks as per relevant SOW and SOP's
§ Receives inbound deliveries
§ Responsible for handling hazardous material and preparing shipping documentation and packaging requirements as required
§ PI Cycle counts & investigates PI count discrepancies
§ Performs POU activity/Kanban cycle review
§ Deals with all adhoc requests Batch/Certs/COA/COC/MSDS
§ Responsible for BOM review with the customer
§ Reviews consumption and flag reports
§ Investigates and actions delivery discrepancies accordingly
§ Performs additional inventory management related functions such as monitoring slow moving, provision stock and adhoc reporting as required.
§ Performs shipping coordination activities such as shipping customer material (including hazardous materials) answering customer calls, handling routine issues, entering relevant shipping information onto the customer computer system and maintaining inspections on safety stations and equipment as required.
§ Responsible for handling and disposing of hazardous material as per customer SOP
§ Responsible for recycling all packaging as per site and/or VWR policy as required.
§ Interfaces directly with customer site lead, responsible for managing consigned, non consigned, customer owned and 3rd party inventory onsite.
Supports multiple customers in a geographic area as required
Identifies additional added value services and implements site audits as required.
Utilises VWR and basic computer systems, SAP, VSR+and customer specific shipping systems in fulfilment of duties
Meets goals and objectives: safety, performance and quality
In conjunction with Department Manager set own goals and takes ownership of same as per VWR PMP process
Perform safety auditing of waste collection trucks before leaving site
Point of contact for TUV and environmental audits
Haz waste record keeping
Monthly spill kit inspections and sign off
Quarterly inspections of on site respirators with filter replacement as required
WEEE waste collection and management off site as required
Detrasing and recycling metals and sharps as required
Meets goals and objectives: safety, performance and quality as required
Documents SPI requests as required
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Leaving certificate
2-4 years equivalent experience in material handling/inventory replenishment or customer service
Spilling containment training, IATA, DOT, IMDG and OSHA
Cross referencing and inside sales experience
Valid drivers licence
Forklift certification
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues , security clearance and medical checkups
IT Literate, proficiency in Excel and SAP
Solid understanding and experience in shipping, inventory or purchasing
Excellent customer facing skills via telephone and in person
High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies and procedures
Ability to self manage and self motivate; forward thinking
Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to chair meetings and host conference calls when required
Knowledge of VWR products and services
Ability to communicate effectively with both the customer and internal contacts
Can ably assist in the induction of new employees
Proficient in manual handling and haz/chem awareness
Must be able to lift 50lbs minimum
Fully versed in use and application of VWR internal IS systems, e.g., Workday
