Eltek Systems are a leading independent provider of industrial process and automation solutions to the food industry. We are part of Vinci Energies a £12.5 billion organisation and are looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to support our ongoing projects in the UK and overseas.

Role Summary:

We are a leading independent provider of industrial process and automation solutions for production lines to the food industry and are looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to support our ongoing projects in the UK and overseas.

The project engineer will be working with a team of electrical design engineers, software engineers, and technicians to ensure the completion of complex, quick turn around electrical process and automation projects for the food industry.

Your role will be to ensure delivery of a range of projects including conceptual design to match customer specifications, consultancy, control system integration, installation and commissioning activities within time and budget constraints.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all relevant project documentation such as planning and progress reports as well as holding frequent progress meetings with project team and liaising with third parties.

A ‘hands on’ approach is essential in this role.  Strong technical understanding is essential to challenge and drive team performance in all areas.

Occasional Travel overseas will be a requirement

Desired profile

Skills and Experience:

  • Able to translate a customer’s User Requirement Specification into a full control system design to an agreed set of deliverables to time and budget. The ability to interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Plant Layout Drawings to fully understand meet the process control needs of the client.
  • Full understanding of machine automation & applications development; predominantly involving Allen Bradley / Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers, SCADA, related Ethernet based infrastructure and architecture, VFD Drives and Process Instrumentation.
  • Full understanding of best practise and industrial standards for electrical design, safeguarding and machinery regulations.  Understanding of CDM Rules and Regulations.
  • Strong technical, control system and electrical understanding and experience is essential, preferably gained through time served apprenticeship.  Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Software Programming experience would be an advantage

Office based responsibilities:

  • Formulate competitive tenders and bids, aligned to both contractual obligations, client engineering End User Requirements and Standards.
  • Delivery of designed engineered solutions (i.e., System Integration) and associated control system deliverables to satisfy the agreed timescales and acceptance criteria for the project, also engineering and generating device lists from P&IDs.
  • Prepare, plan and co-ordinate project engineering activities including budget, schedule and resource allocation.
  • Maintain the company business system needs (SAP) for project cost management, milestone invoicing, quality and reporting.  Provide project status, technical and/or commercial reporting to the Senior Project Manager and stakeholders. 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, practises, quality standards and Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
  • Provide associated Risk Assessments & Method Statements for site work activities that are part of the scope of supply.

Site based responsibilities:

  • Accountable for tasks covering the shipment of equipment to site, electrical installation and control system commissioning activities – both in the UK and globally – that may fall within the scope of the project.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of electrical installation activities with client, third party suppliers, OEM’s or other peer contractors involved with the project.
