Job description

Actemium, an international Electrical Services organisation with a global turnover of €2.8 billion and based in over 40 countries is looking to recruit a Procurement Manager to join its Support office. The ideal candidate will have procurement experience and some electrical knowledge.

Reporting directly to the Director, the overall purpose of the role is responsibility for a portfolio of contracts for materials and services ensuring that the most advantageous commercial outcomes are achieved.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

•  Development and implementation of best practice procurement strategies.

•  Benchmark contract prices, procurement strategies and processes.

•  Ensure materials and services are sourced from the Global Market.

•  Assisting the tendering Engineer in preparation of tender submissions.

•  Evaluation of new suppliers.

•  Convert business requirements into detailed and unambiguous pricing schedules.

•  Compile tender enquiry documents and carry out detailed analysis of tenders.

•  Lead tender negotiations, including contract terms and conditions.

•  Prepare Sanction Papers, which are clear, logical and succinct, suitable for submission to the Board as required

•  Ensure the best possible terms and conditions are applied to each contract.

•  Draft non-standard contract terms and conditions.

•  Develop good relationships with suppliers.

•  Identify ongoing cost savings, through supply chain improvement initiatives with suppliers.

•  Develop appropriate key performance measures to monitor the performance of suppliers for the periods of the contracts.

•  Champion new e-procurement tools such as e-tendering and e-requisition, in order to maximise procurement process efficiencies.

•  Ensure there is effective information and data management within the Procurement Team to support decision-making processes.

•  Responsible for Procurement department ISO 9001 accredited Quality Management System. 

Desired profile

It is essential that the jobholder is a commercially focused self-starter with the enthusiasm, motivation and initiative to succeed in this role. The jobholder must also possess:

• Experience of working in procurement roles is essential, ideally with some knowledge of the electrical industry
• Detailed knowledge of the preparation of tender enquiry documents, tender analysis and tender negotiations
• Significant experience of standard construction/engineering conditions of contract
• Full awareness of negotiating contract terms and conditions
• Practical understanding of drafting non-standard conditions of contract
• Sound appreciation of current procurement legislation
• Comprehensive understanding of contract management and application of KPIs
• Computer literacy with experience of MS Office.
• A willingness to develop/grow within the role, taking on additional responsibilities and duties.
• An ability to work closely and effectively with Powerteam management and the local project team to achieve challenging targets combined with an ability to work on a self directed basis.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills combined with the analytical and problem solving skills to reach realistic workable solutions.
• Adaptability to succeed within a demanding business.
• Access to a form of transport to meet the requirements of the role, with the flexibility to travel throughout the UK if required.
