Summary

The Design Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the design of Electrical Control Panels, LV Switchgear, Motor Control Centres and Local Equipment Rooms

The Role

• Responsible for design of Electrical Control Panels, LV Switchgear, Motor Control Centres and Local Equipment Rooms.
• Oversee the CAD of these designs.
• Check drawings to ensure accuracy of drawings prior to issuing to the Project Manager
• Producing BOMs for acceptance and purchasing.
• Assist sales with quotations and tenders when required.

• Assumes responsibility for the project designs in terms of deadline compliance and technical performance of the work.

• Responsible for the management of designs under his/hers authority, covering liaising with the workshop manager and test department during the lifecycle of the projects.

• Assist in the bid and contract reviews of the projects.

• Responsible for the technical aspects of the project.

Desired profile

Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of ONC/OND qualified in Electrical engineering or equivalent technical discipline
• Familiar with LV Switchgear, motor control principles and control panel design.
• Excellent communications skills must be able to communicate with stake holders at all levels.
• Calm professional manner, but able to take firm and timely decisions.
• Positive "can do" attitude.
• Able to work extended and/or unsocial hours to the full requirements of the role
• Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
• Ability to deliver designs to demanding deadlines.
