Actemium Automation Support - Business Unit General Manager

Job description

Actemium Automation is a control and automation systems integrator. We operate from 12 offices across the UK and employ over 250 people. We are part of VINCI Energies; a £12.5 billion organisation and we are looking to recruit a Business Unit General Manager to help run our 24/7 Automation Support Team (£900k T/O) based from our Portsmouth office.

Role:

Management of the BU and the team of engineer’s delivering both proactive and reactive 24/7/365 support services for clients with support contracts and ad-hoc clients

Task Competencies

• 
  Develop & deliver both the financial and qualitative objective of the BU Shared Strategic Plan
• Effective leadership of the BU to support efficient day to day organisation of the geographically dispersed support teams
• Coordinate and work closely with the other Team Manager(s) to ensure the overall business Unit activity is delivered effectively with high quality of customer service as the highest priority
• Promotion of the business to both prospective internal and external clients with the overall objective to grow profitable the BU activity
• Preparation of quotations for the BU activity, typically covering support contacts, ad-hoc work and small fixed price projects
• Motivate, mentor & support the BU members with their professional development
• Take responsibility through planning and risk mitigation actions to keep the BU employees safe at work
• Ensure that all-relevant Health and Safety Procedures are adhered to.
• Ensuring you and all employees comply with all BU business management processes
• Maintain company records and ensure the safe operation of all equipment to comply with current legislative and company standards.
• Manage the continuous improvement of Support Team systems and processes so they are robust and fit for purpose (quotes, renewals, billing, cash collection, team rota)
• Representing the support team in a positive light in all forums and delivering on the VE core values
• Build & maintain high level relationships with vendors & partners (e.g. Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, etc)
• Carry out other duties as required and appropriate to the role.

Desired profile

• Qualified to HND/ Degree level with extensive experience of working within the industrial control system arena
• Good working knowledge of control system technology (ideally for Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Schneider & Mitsubishi)
• Good level of knowledge of the Project and HR management processes, supported with practical experience in their application
• Good Commercial knowledge of tendering, project budgeting and cost control
