Job description

Actemium Automation is a control and automation systems integrator. We operate from 11 offices in England and employ 250 people. We are part of VINCI Energies; a £12.5 billion organisation and we are looking to recruit a Software Manager to help run our team of Software Engineers in our Nottingham office. The ideal candidate will have managerial experience and understanding of automation software.

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and support the welfare of their team, resolving conflict when required.
  • Line management responsibility for the members of their team, including production and review of training plans, performance appraisal, and disciplinary matters.
  • Direct involvement in the recruitment of new engineers to the team
  • Decide, lead and review direction of development of company offering based on developments in technology, customer requirements, business direction and risk to the company.
  • Perform the role of the lead advisor to the business within their speciality.
  • Generation and management of internal standards and procedures, ensuring their correct and efficient use within the business.
  • Monitoring of national and international standards to ensure that business standards and procedures remain current.
  • Ensure successful interaction between different teams within the business to ensure that the goals of the business are met.
  • Coordination of resource within their team to maintain the required level of support for the project managers.
  • Resolution of issues of work priority.
  • Contribute to the sales activity of the business by preparing and reviewing quotations, managing nominated customer accounts, and taking part in business development activities.
  • Identify gaps between customers current systems and their future needs.
  • Review of quotations and project designs whilst under development.
  • Delivery of projects on time, in budget and to the agreed specifications through task and engineering process management relating to themselves and the members of their team.
  • Leading the drive in the department to improve Quality Systems and Standards, ensuring that the operation is consistent in its approach to the Quality System.
  • Design and testing of control systems in accordance with agreed specifications, applicable standards and legislative requirements.
  • Ensure that all-relevant Health and Safety Procedures are adhered to.
  • Maintain company records and ensure the safe operation of all equipment to comply with current legislative and company standards.
  • Follow all relevant business procedures.
  • Carry out other duties as required and appropriate to the role.

Desired profile

Profile

 

  • Qualified to HNC / HND / Degree level in a relevant discipline and 10 years’ experience in system integration OR 15 years’ experience in systems integration with lower qualifications.
  • High level of ability to understand and produce control system design documents.
  • Relevant technical qualifications required by specialism.
  • Demonstrate technical and commercial experience gained in a wide range of relevant market sectors and technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability in the leadership of teams.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with willingness to take on new skills & knowledge.
  • Good time management skills, and be able to demonstrate a structured and methodical approach to work load.
  • Right first time approach to all aspects of work.
  • Willing to seek appropriate assistance when required.
  • A highly self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with good team working skills.
  • Good aptitude to learn from and influence others with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels is essential.
  • Ability to balance own objectives with those of the company’s and other employees.
  • Willingness to undertake further professional qualifications.
