Job Description

• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all hotel and residential building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, fire safety systems, and building automation systems.

• Ensure the property meets all safety, health, and environmental standards.

• Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and reduce the risk of equipment failure.

• Lead, train, and mentor a team of engineers and maintenance staff, ensuring high standards of performance, professionalism, and customer service.

• Create staff schedules and assign tasks to optimize operational efficiency.

• Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and ensure continuous professional development.

• Develop and manage the engineering department's annual budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and staying within budgetary constraints.

• Monitor energy usage, implement energy-saving initiatives, and ensure sustainability practices are in place.

• Approve and track expenditures for equipment, materials, and repairs.

• Ensure that all engineering work does not interfere with the guest or resident experience, maintaining a balance between operational efficiency and comfort. • Respond promptly to guest and resident complaints or service requests related to engineering matters.

• Coordinate with other hotel departments to resolve issues in a timely manner.

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to building maintenance, safety, and health codes.

• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and rectify hazards.

• Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures for the engineering department.

• Lead and manage major renovation projects, repairs, and new installations to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.

• Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized projects and services.

• Manage all engineering documentation, including contracts, service records, and inspection reports.

• Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technology advancements to improve facility operations and enhance guest experiences.

• Implement best practices for maintenance and sustainability to improve the hotel's overall operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire system and electrical issues.

• Understand fully the products and tools that are used within the department

• Electrical, mechanical and plumbing qualifications preferred.

• One to two years in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel

• Enter and locate work related information using computers and/or point of sale systems • Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor

• Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high-level attention to detail

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

• Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments

• Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
