Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis 1- Tandoor Cuisine to join our culinary team in Mysuru, India. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will specialize in tandoor cooking techniques and contribute to the preparation of authentic Indian cuisine.
· Assist the Chef de Partie in the tandoor section of the kitchen
· Prepare and cook various tandoor dishes, including breads, meats, and vegetables
· Maintain and operate the tandoor oven, ensuring proper temperature control and cooking times
· Follow recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency in food quality and presentation
· Assist in the preparation of marinades, spice blends, and accompaniments for tandoor dishes
· Collaborate with other kitchen sections to ensure timely food service
· Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
· Participate in kitchen inventory management and stock rotation
· Assist in menu development and the creation of new tandoor dishes
· Support senior kitchen staff in daily operations and special events
Qualifications
· Diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent culinary education preferred
· Previous experience in a professional kitchen, particularly with Indian cuisine, is advantageous
· Proficiency in tandoor oven operation and cooking techniques
· Strong knife skills and knowledge of various Indian spices and ingredients
· Understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and relevant health regulations
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
· Excellent teamwork and communication skills
· Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and work in a hot kitchen environment
· Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
· Familiarity with local Mysuru ingredients and cooking styles is a plus
