The Component Engineer II is responsible for overseeing component engineering, including but not limited to the practice of selection, approval/qualification, documentation, and management of all purchased components and direct material utilized to produce an electronic or mechanical assembly or end product.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Create and maintain purchased component items in Arena PLM database, including establishing detailed sourcing information and gathering reference documentation such as datasheets and RoHS compliance statements

Advise design engineers in the sourcing of parts

·
Review requests for new components to determine if a current part can satisfy the requirements

·
Advise Purchasing on alternate sourcing of components

·
Assist Receiving Inspection when needed to verify a component is authorized

·
Perform reliability prediction (MTBF) at the board level, requesting reliability information of component from manufacturers if needed

·
Work with Quality Engineering on establishing root cause for failures and advise Management accordingly

·
Monitor and establish programs for component End of Life

·
Provide guidance to fellow team members

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education:

·
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field

·
3-6 years of experience working in a similar role

·
In-depth knowledge of all classes of active and passive electronic components, electromechanical products, and hardware

·
Familiar with supply chain relationships; manufacturers, representatives, and distributors

Soft Skills:

Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Must be proactive, meticulous, organized, and detail oriented

Ability to efficiently resolve problems

·
Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in a high-paced environment

·
Ability to work independently, with minimal direction
