Flammability Lab Technician - NAT

Job description

Position Summary:

The Flammability Lab Technician conducts and reports all testing in the flammability lab, and facilitates the manufacturing of all flammability test samples at NAT.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

· Calibrate the flammability lab equipment.
· Maintain the flammability lab equipment in good working condition.
· Conduct FAA/EASA certified and risk assessment flammability testing: including bunsen burner, heat release, smoke density, toxicity, radiant panel, and fire containment.
· Organize and present the flammability test results to the Flammability Engineer and Flammability CVE/UM/DER.
· Assist with managing the flammability lab testing schedule on a daily, priority-ranked basis.
· Maintain the cleanliness and efficient operation of the flammability lab.
· Facilitate the manufacturing of flammability test samples: create job orders, prepare Syteline status reports, and coordinate with Operations.
· Track the manufacturing of flammability test samples, and present status reports for the Flammability Engineer.
· Additional duties as assigned, including manufacturing tasks.

Knowledge/Experience

· Must be at least 18 years of age.
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Three to five years work experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
· One year work experience with Syteline preferred.
· Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Skills/Abilities

· Aptitude for mechanical equipment.
· Capable of learning Syteline for creating job orders and bill of materials and tracking of flammability samples.
· Troubleshooting/problem solving.
· Self starter.
· Ability to work within a team.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to prioritize, multi-task effectively, and work under pressure.
· Attention to detail.
· Exercise discretion and independent judgment in performing duties.

Working Conditions

· Flammability lab environment may have fluctuating temperatures.
· Working in manufacturing environment.
· Protracted or irregular working hours may be required.
