Job description



This Employment Attorney is responsible for advising on an array of employment related legal issues including but not limited to wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, harassment and discrimination litigation defending employers, wage orders, and leaves of absence. The position will also advise our corporate leadership in view of monitoring and aligning existing employment practices with best practices in order to mitigate the legal risks associated with employment disputes.

The Employment Attorney uses thorough understanding of applicable laws and comprehensive experience to advise multiple companies located across North America (primarily California and Washington states). Advice includes, but is not limited to: all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations affecting operations and businesses. The employment attorney is expected to work closely with key executives.

This position reports directly to the Head of Legal of Safran Cabin and is located in Huntington Beach (CA-USA).

Litigation Management includes the following responsibilities / activities:

·  • Prepare and/ or review legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, subpoenas, memoranda, pre-trial motion/submittals, letters, proposals, and/or other documents;
·  • Review employees' complaints to identify ethical violations and legal issues;
·  • Prepare cases for trial, including directing the gathering of evidence, preparing and filing required pleadings and motions, and preparing witnesses for testimony;
·  • Make decisions regarding the disposition of files and complaints;
·  • Provide regular updates on employment cases to corporate leadership and to financial auditors;
·  • Counsel finance department about adequate financial reserves commensurate to a given case's risk assessment;
·  • Retain, supervise, and review invoices from outside employment law firms handling litigation and arbitration matters;
·  • Implement litigation holds in accordance with legal requirements and Company's Group procedures;
·  • Collect and furnish information in response to pre-trial discovery requests;
·  • Attend employment depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial hearings as the company representative;
·  • Administer and oversee the execution of employment settlement agreements; Conduct research and analyzing the Company's employment related information, reviewing employment documents including employee handbooks and employment agreements;

Job requirements

Education: JD, active member of the State Bar of California
Experience:

·  • 6+ years of labor and employment specific experience.
·  • Candidates with prior in-house experience is preferred;
·  • Ability to find innovative and compliant solutions when negotiating complex or contentious issues Computer Skills:

·  • Basic knowledge Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Other Essential Skills:
