POSITION SUMMARY

The CNC Programmer/Tool Designer coordinates definition of complex requirements for materials, parts and process’s used in manufacture of ZACI products. This position establishes standards for specification and documentation to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes.

SCOPE OF POSITION

The CNC Programmer/Tool Designer reports to the Tooling Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Technical Support

· Produce Tool Design and 5 axis CNC Machine Programming in support of commercial aircraft interior manufacturing.
· Work to written standards and take on challenging new part designs that are outside standard.
· Create and release Tool Orders, CNC Operator Documents, Tool Sketches and traditional Tool Designs.
· Assigns work and trains lower level dept personel
· Mentors junior level co-workers
· Takes on special assignments from Manager

Workplace

· Work in a team atmosphere.
· Work in a fast paced and task oriented environment.
· Release CATIA V5 Tool Designs and NC Programs per tool planning schedule.

Shop Floor Support

· Manages Tool Plan performance to schedule.
· Support Production Shifts as needed .
· Provide feedback to Manager and Manufacturing Engineers concerning Tool Plan performance.

Lean Support

· Promote and support 6s, Kaizen, and other Zodiac sponsored Lean activities.
· Participate and contribute to 6s and Lean activities.
· Lead Lean activities/Kaizens.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor degree in applicable engineering discipline or equivalent experience
· PC based Tool Design, catia V5 and CNC programming experience or education preferred
· Minimum Two (2) years as an Associate Tool Designer/CNC Programmer or equivalent experience or education

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Basic knowledge of MS Office Products (Excel, Outlook, Word)
· Demonstrated proficiency with PC Based Design and Programming software (Catia V5 preferred)
· Excellent blueprint reading skills
· Ability to work OT as needed during high customer demand

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Normal office conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Standard workweek often exceeds 40 hours/week.
