The opportunity
As a User Experience Researcher at Zalando you will support product ideation and optimization at Zalando by researching users and testing interfaces. You ensure that off-target ideas fail early, and you help your product management and design colleagues iterate good ideas into great solutions.
Zalando researchers work closely with designers, product managers and developers. We employ an evolving mix of traditional user-centered methodologies, lean UX practices and design thinking.
Your challenge
As a User Experience Researcher you will take on a series of challenges, each of these within a specific team, executing on a specific mission.
Your first mission will be to achieve a concrete goal focused in one of these areas:
· Testing daily interactions with millions of customers across Europe
· Evaluating prototypes or MVPs of innovative new products
· Measuring the efficiency and job satisfaction of colleagues and business partners who use our custom-built internal tools
Where do you want to start to make a difference?
Your responsibilities
As a UX researcher you will take on a series of focused, deep challenges (each ca. 12-18 months) within a specific product team, executing on a specific mission.
· Run (lean) usability tests and ethnographic studies, both autonomously and jointly with colleagues
· Coach, train, support and supervise designers and product managers so that they can conduct their own research
· Participate in all steps of the product development cycle as a resident research expert – structure the research lifecycle, and educate colleagues about when to incorporate which research methods
· Spread insights out beyond the core stakeholders in order to maximize your impact and fuel innovation
· Consult product teams on user-research related questions and propose methodological options to solve specific research questions
· Conduct exploratory research to inform future products and business channels.
· Bring together qualitative and quantitative perspectives; link up with our market research and web analytics team
· Evangelize UX in the company and personify the voice of the customer

To land this job you will show and explain raw artifacts from various stages of the design process that illustrate your proven ability to:
· Plan and execute a wide variety of research studies independently
· Balance high quality research with short deadlines and highly iterative cycles
· Work in multidisciplinary international teams
· Communicate fluently both in English and German
