Forecasting is at the core of our commercial operation.  Forecasting tools help to determine how much of each product to buy, to recommend the best prices for these products, and to ensure that we have the right level of logistics capacity to fulfil customer demand.

As Product Owner Pricing & Forecasting, you will be responsible for identifying and prioritizing business opportunities to be addressed through the next generation of Forecasting tools.  To do this, you will develop a deep understanding of our business challenges.  You will work very closely with our commercial teams, including Merchandising, Markets and Operations.  Using your knowledge of the commercial operation, you will evaluate the value of these opportunities, assess trade-offs and create both a long term product vision and a shorter term roadmap.  Combining your commercial insights with an understanding of data science, you will work closely with the engineering teams to implement this roadmap.  In an agile development process, you and your team of Product Managers will assess what has been built, collect feedback from the Commercial teams, solve roadblocks and regularly re-prioritise development.

As the key interface between the Commercial and Engineering teams, your decisions will have a huge impact on the overall value generated by the Forecasting team.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

·  You are an experienced leader with outstanding analytical capabilities
·  You are great at structuring complex topics into easy-to-understand messages
·  You are a great communicator and can motivate others to follow your suggestions by painting a compelling vision; people will trust you to lead the way
·  You have experience of leading a team and developing people
·  You are experienced in process design and in defining requirements for IT systems, preferably in an agile context
·  You’re able to find the perfect balance between longer-term vision and more short-term business needs and enjoy identifying opportunities and taking responsibility for achieving the associated business impact
·  You ideally have experience of data science / machine learning products
·  You love an international atmosphere and are great at communicating with your colleagues and clients in English (German is a plus)

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

·  You will lead a team of 3 Product Managers
·  You will recruit and develop top talent for your team and for Zalando
·  You will excel at innovation and execution to get us to where we need to be in 3 years from now, while delivering improvements every quarter
·  For this, you will analyze our current performance, identify opportunities, change processes, build fact-based business cases, define detailed system requirements in the form of concepts and user stories and train your “users” (i.e. our pricing team and merchandisers)
·  You’ll drive the agile product development process together with our delivery teams, which are dedicated to your systems, and identify external software solutions that can be added to drive impact
·  You will attend the key industry conferences to keep up to date with external developments
