Our Category Management Team is passionate about fashion and lifestyle. We want customers to find the perfect fashion and lifestyle products for them, from shoes and clothing, to home ware and accessories. Category Management’s task is to put together an on-trend and profitable selection of products. We love discovering new brands and products for the Zalando shops, but finding the right trends is only one aspect, as we also need to keep track of our KPIs and processes. Constant exchange with other departments like logistics, content and photo production, the onsite team and marketing ensures that we act in line with the whole organisation. In the end, we are all working towards the same goal: to create an excellent experience for our customers at Zalando.

The role of an Assistant Buyer (Women Textile Premium) is your entry into the career path of a Buyer. You’ll be the right hand of the buyer and will be supporting them by providing analysis and making recommendation for buying and trading decisions. Depending on your background and performance, you can have buying responsibility for your first brand(s) on your own!

Your challenge

·  Next to our buyers in the Premium team, you'll be the first contact person for our suppliers
·  You’ll provide input for, support and join order appointments and negotiation meetings
·  You'll support our buyers in operational and functional matters
·  You’ll support preparation of assortment as well as line plans
·  You'll create/cancel orders and you’ll make sure all necessary steps are followed through
·  You’ll make proposals for the assortment selection
·  You’ll prepare product based analysis for trading decisions

What you've got

·  You have a bachelor’s or master’s  degree in Business Administration, Economics, Fashion Management or an education in a similar field
·  You've already been working in Buying or Merchandising on an assistant level for 1-3 years, preferably in a fashion-related field
·  You have fun working with numbers as well as have a deep understanding for trend and products at best within Premium brands
·  Good organization and clear communication internally and externally are your biggest strengths
·  You take MS Office in your stride and can also boast proficiency in Excel
·  You will be working in an international team, so English is a must
·  You have a strong understanding for trend and products
·  You bring very good negotiation skills
