Exciting opportunity with Yorkshire Water Senior Operator Based in Colburn, North Yorkshire We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Operator to join the Colburn Waste Water Services Team in the Service Delivery Business Unit of Yorkshire Water. This role is the first point of contact for waste water service operators in regards technical support and provides support to the Team Leader for administrative duties, ensuring effective day to day management of waste water treatment work sites in the Colburn area. The role will involve some operational site work and also some office based duties. As Senior Operator, you will be responsible for supporting and advocating a safe working environment, whilst achieving compliance with the defined Asset and Operation Maintenance plan which ensures effective operation of the waste water treatment and network sites.

Salary & Benefits - £23,290.00 - £30,000.00 per annum dependent on experience + attractive pension + quarterly performance related bonus + 25 days annual leave + Company Van

What will the role involve ?

You will play a key role in providing support to the Colburn Waste Water Services Team Leader to ensure that the day to day operations at Colburn Waste Water Treatment works are carried out safely and effectively. This will involve working closely with colleagues in Engineering and Reliability department to ensure a planned approach to maintenance of assets, devising and implementing mitigation plans and providing first line technical support. The role involves day to day liaison with Yorkshire Water colleagues, service partners and contractors relating to on site issues, including chairing appropriate meetings to ensure site or area performance.

You will ensure a safe working environment, this will include implementing and adhering to Health and Safety procedures; being responsible for issuing and managing permits to work and hand overs; mitigating and pursuing solutions for hazards identified on waste water treatment sites.

As Senior Operator you will play a key role in coaching and supporting members of the team and ensure that assets are optimised to minimise the use of chemicals and electricity. You will use appropriate corporate IT systems to observe asset performance, monitor trends and make site process adjustments.

You will also assist in managing any on site issues.

As part of the role you will be required to participate in a call out standby rota, once fully trained.

What skills are we looking for?

As you will be supporting a team of operators, you will possess strong coaching skills and be able to support individual team members. You will be able to build up good working relationships and be confident in influencing and challenging effectively.

To ensure site optimisation you will use creativity and innovation to constantly strive to find new ways of achieving site targets and to seek improvements on the way that tasks are done. You will be proactive and take ownership of issues, working with others to resolve any issues together.

The role is varied and so you need to be able to work on your own and as part of a team. You will also be able to self-manage and prioritise workload.

Previous experience in a commercially orientated or regulated environment is desirable as is previous experience in the water industry, or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.

A full valid EU driving licence is required for the role.
