Exciting Opportunity with Yorkshire Water Network Modeller - Permanent Based at Midway, Buttershaw, Bradford Salary - £29,760 - 38,500 Yorkshire Water manages the collection, treatment and distribution of water around the Yorkshire region, supplying around 1.24 billion litres of drinking water each day – that’s a lot of water! At the same time we also collect, treat and dispose of approximately one billion litres of waste water safely back into the environment. But we’re about much more than just water and sewerage services and our people work across a wide range of areas including IT, Finance and Regulation, HR and Health & Safety. To help us achieve our vision of "taking responsibility for the water environment for good" we currently have a vacancy for a Network Modeller to join the Modelling Data & Team in the Asset Management Strategy & Policy Department.
Salary & Benefits - £29,760 - 38,500 per annum + attractive pension + annual performance related bonus + 25 days holiday
What is the purpose of the role?
Your role as the Network Modeller is to work within the Modelling & Data Team to support the development, integration and provision of a clean water hydraulic modelling service to Yorkshire Water, covering all strategic, asset planning and operational aspects.
This will be achieved by:
• Working with other teams within the Company to develop and integrate clean water hydraulic modelling within Yorkshire Water;
• Acting as Yorkshire Water's expert client with consultants/ partners, to ensure that model specification and model production are timely and fit for purpose;
• Undertaking and facilitating model build, calibration, model maintenance and scenario modelling and providing the results in formats that support decision making across the Company.
• Co-ordinating the operational input into field calibration of models and the resolution of identified anomalies;
• Managing the delivery of designated model use and model maintenance projects.
• Liaising with and supporting internal and external customers on issues relating to modelling;
• Contributing towards technical innovation;
• Undertaking site work with the appropriate training as necessary;
• Having awareness of site and health & safety procedures.
What will the role involve?
As a Network Modeller you will be providing effective technical and occasional field support to consultants/partners, liaising with internal and external customers on issues relating to modelling.
You will be facilitating the production of Water Supply System hydraulic models, assisting to specify and manage the quality of the Technical Consultancy deliverables, co-ordinating operational input into field calibration of models and the resolution of identified anomalies. You should be aware of site procedures, health and safety procedures, and be prepared to undertake site work with the appropriate training as necessary.
You will contribute towards technical innovation, supervise and check consultant activities in relation to modelling, field tests and documentation. You will be responsible for certain model use projects and have a knowledge of aspects of model use such as pump optimisation, growth modelling, pressure management and rezoning. Experience of Network Strategy and high level planning with model use.
Your role will ensure that models are developed, delivered and implemented within the required time scales to ensure compliance with the Yorkshire Water model standards requirements.
What skills are we looking for?
It is essential that you have a technical background in clean water distribution, and significant experience in hydraulic modelling, specifically using InfoWorks WS, InfoNet and MapInfo. A knowledge of YW corporate systems would be an advantage.
The role will require the successful candidate to have the ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision and on their own initiative, as well as possessing excellent time and resource management skills. You will have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff both internally and externally, and be able to promote the and benefits of model building and model use within the business to other stakeholders.
You will have a willingness and desire to teach, develop and support users within the business, and have experience in working in a team environment.
A full driving licence is required.
