Driver - Escort - Support Worker

(Working with Children. Young People and Vulnerable Adults)

Location:

Nationwide with our teams based in:

Hertfordshire/ Essex border, North Kent (Medway), South East Wales, Stoke-on-Trent, Merseyside, County Durham, South Yorkshire & Strathclyde

Hours: Flexible working arrangements from zero to guaranteed minimum hours

Hourly rates of pay: £9.50ph to £12.00ph (plus enhancements)

Holiday pay: 5.6 weeks per annum

Training: Paid training

Wrixon Care work with commissioners across the UK to provide transport and support services principally for children and young people who are under the care of local authorities.

We currently employ staff with a background in a range of areas including: the police service; the prison service; prisoner escort; driving; care work; youth work; youth justice; supported living; drug and alcohol support services; security; support work; fostering and working with children, young people, people with disabilities, vulnerable adults, families and those with complex support needs in a range of different settings.

Our services include

  • Secure and non-secure transport

  • Support within children and young people’s residential and secure units

  • Complex needs supported living

  • Supervised contact visits

  • Bespoke 1-2-1 support

  • Appropriate adults

  • Working with ex-offenders


Key requirements

  • Comprehensive pre-employment checks to include previous 5 years employment/education references; enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Disclosure/ Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in Scotland

  • Competent and confident driver with a full UK driving licence (a driving assessment is carried out as part of our induction)

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people in a variety situations

  • It is an advantage to have experience of working with children and young people with challenging behaviour although full training will be provided

  • To be able to evidence an understanding and practical application of the use of IT and electronic communications

  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the principles of children and vulnerable adults safeguarding and their application

  • Reliability and flexibility, with an ability to work under pressure and a committment to achieving the best outcomes for the individuals in our care

  • Always maintain a respectful attitude and be non-judgmental


Duties to include

  • Work as part of a team to deliver our full range of services

  • Maintain the security and wellbeing of service users

  • Complete reports on each task - both written and verbal

  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality

  • Manage incidents and emergency situations

  • Drive company vehicles on escort tasks and as necessary

  • Provide effective support according to the individual needs of those in our care


Although no particular experience, or qualifications, are required, we are looking for people who can demonstrate that they have the ability, commitment, life skills and tools to ensure that we achieve positive outcomes for those we support.
