Job description

JUST EAT's Finance function interacts, supports and challenges all areas of the business, from issuing invoices to our restaurant partners, managing budget to promote efficiences, right through to reporting on the performance of our business to investors.

JUST EAT is on the lookout for a commercial and proactive graduate to join our fast-paced Finance Team. The perfect graduate would be someone who embodies our culture and spirit, who is highly numerical and is passionate about learning the commercial insight that helps us lead the way in our sector.

The Group is headquartered in London, with the core UK country operations in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. As the largest and most profitable division within the Group, the UK business continues to deliver very high growth and margins, and is a key driver of key strategic developments. In order to keep up with this growth, the Finance department has evolved significantly over the last few years, and is now looking to invest in our future success with the addition of a Graduate Development Programme.

At JUST EAT, you’ll be part of a Graduate Development Programme for a period of 3 -years, undertaking four placements across our finance department whilst completing your CIMA qualification. During each placement, the business will set key objectives designed to drive personal development and give you hands on exposure within a FTSE 250, global business. The final 12 months will be spent specialising in role, getting involved in new commercial opportunities.

Your Finance Graduate Scheme

The aim of this development programme is to provide candidates with a structured development programme across all things finance, your rotational scheme will look like:

Rotation 1: UK Management Accounts

Your first six months will be spent with our UK Management Accounts and Operational Finance teams and you’ll support them with various activities like:

  • Producing month end management reports focusing on payroll, overhead and inventory analysis
  • Providing cost centre reporting packs for Finance Business Partners and heads of departments
  • Key audit schedules
  • Variance reports and analysis and balance sheet reconciliations

Rotation 2: Tax and Statutory Reporting

You’ll then get to experience what our Group Tax and Reporting teams do, helping them manage our Tax affairs across all our markets, plus reporting to the City on a quarterly basis:

  • Supporting with complex, multi-currency, technically challenging consolidation
  • Preparation of the annual or ½ year Report
  • Assisting with the corporation tax returns
  • Assisting with employment tax related compliance and PSA calculations


Rotation 3: Financial Business Partnering

Our Financial Business Partners and Analysts, as part of this team, you will:

  • Provide analysis to support business cases and other commercial decisions.
  • Provide monthly reporting, forecasting and preparation of department budgets.
  • Evaluate performance drivers and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Analyse actual revenue and cost trends to build budgets.
  • Ensure that effective systems, processes and management information are developed, implemented and fully complied with.

Rotation 4 - International Finance

And last but most definitely not least, you will spend your final rotation in our International Finance team, providing financial support to all of our overseas markets:

  • Producing month end management reports focusing on payroll, overhead and inventory analysis
  • Providing cost centre reporting packs for Finance Business Partners and heads of departments
  • Key audit schedules
  • Other activities such as variance reports and analysis and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Opportunity for international travel

Final year

By the end of your rotations you’ll have a good idea where your strengths lie and which part of Finance appeals most to you. We'll also be able to identify where you can best contribute to our business and together we'll find you an area to specialise in and have you work on projects in that space.

Technical requirements

To obtain a place on this competitive programme you'll need a 2.1 degree in any discipline, and be available to start September 2016.

In addition, we are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

  • A high level of numeracy
  • The ability to interpret data
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Organisation and rigour
  • Effective oral and written communicative skills
