The Role
The insurance and re-insurance industries are going through a profound transformations process with evolving and more complex needs to satisfy.
Willis Re , right at the heart of the industry, is dynamically adapting to this challenging environment and actively promoting innovation and excellence in its advisory and transactional role. Here at Willis Re we help our clients in understanding the risks they face to make appropriate decisions and manage them efficiently. Willis Re is looking for an early in career broker to be part of the EMEA W/S team based in London. This role will be focussed 50/50 on UK and European clients, working closely with senior members of the team to support client management, prospection and placement process.
The ideal candidate will have gained some experience in the (Re)insurance industry, whether it is in an insurer, broker or syndicate; experience in both analytical and transactional activities is preferred.
There will be increasing opportunities to travel within the EMEA W/S region.
Major responsibilities:
· Understand client needs and advise clients on reinsurance purchasing strategies
· Provide front line client servicing (supply of market information, negotiate amendments/improvements to cover, facilitate client/reinsurer meetings etc)
· Prepare client and market presentations in Excel, Word and PowerPoint formats and work with colleagues to prepare responses to tenders.
· Negotiate renewals and endorsements with markets in London and overseas
· Contribute to reinsurance programme structuring and pricing
· Ability to engage with Catastrophe Risk Analysts and Actuaries and to demonstrate a level of comfort in discussions on these subjects both internally and with clients
· Manage client relationships at junior and senior level and negotiate placement with the Reinsurance Market
· Create and grow relationships with underwriters in London and International Markets.
Minimum Criteria / Skills Required:
· Developing sales and negotiation skills
· experience in the (re)insurance industry
· Good analytical and numerical skills
· team-player, enthusiastic in supporting a team effort and comfortable that during the initial stages of the role, they will be playing a broadly supporting function
· Energetic with a strong desire to learn new things
· Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines
· Initiative and an eagerness to drive projects to a successful conclusion
· A willingness to deal with International clients and markets
· Excellent communication and presentation skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Any additional language skills from the EMEA W/S region would be advantageous although not a necessity
