Subtitler And Multilingual Proofreader

WLP, an innovative design and production agency based in Central London with a wide range of clients in the entertainment business, is looking for a subtitler and multilingual proofreader to join the team.
As subtitler you will be responsible for creating and checking subtitles for various projects, using specialist software (full training will be given), as well as adapting and supplying files in the required formats, and checking final product. You will also coordinate freelancer work and help with scheduling, administration and resourcing. As proofreader you will check multilingual articles and texts for both linguistic and factual accuracy and amend translations in consultation with translators.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in subjects as diverse as opera, classical music, Shakespearean literature, TV series, and independent films and will be intelligent, pragmatic and organised with the ability to prioritise work, as well as having excellent attention to detail. An excellent command of English and either French or German is required.

Required skills:
• Interest in film, TV, music (including classical and opera) and theatre (including Shakespeare)
• Excellent command of English, including a broad and varied vocabulary
• Fluency in either French or German (degree-level)
• Ability to maintain meticulous attention to detail and high levels of concentration while working under pressure
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent PC/Mac skills
• Willingness to learn new software packages
• Resourcefulness and ability to take the initiative
• Knowledge and understanding of UK regional dialects and accents
• A good level of general knowledge

Desirable skills:
• A second European language (from French/German/Italian)
• Knowledge of and experience with subtitling
• Some knowledge of video formats and frame rates

Salary:17,000
