Technical Support Engineer

Westek Technology is seeking a person to take on the role of Technical Support Engineer with excellent computer software and hardware knowledge to join our technical team. Westek is a leading independent rugged server and data storage manufacturer, based in Melksham, Wiltshire.

The role includes providing a responsive technical support service, problem investigation and resolution, hardware testing, system repair and occasional on-site support to Westeks customers both internally and externally as required. This person, once proficient on our products, will be dealing directly with Westeks customers who need technical assistance.

The ideal applicant will be a recent graduate or similar with a higher level technical qualification in a relevant subject who has good basic computer knowledge and is keen to learn; with a positive, confident and conscientious attitude and good verbal and written communication skills. Once up to speed this person will be happy to interface with customers on a technical level on a day to day basis.

To apply for this Technical Support Engineer role you will likely have:-

Good knowledge of at least one Computer Operating System
Excellent detailed knowledge of Computer Hardware.
Have a higher technical qualification in a relevant subject from a college or university.

You will also need:-

Strong Customer focus with good responsiveness and helpful attitude.
Logical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.
Clear planning, organising and prioritising abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Be a good team player but also able to work on their own initiative.
A clean driving license and be willing to travel to customer sites when required. (a company car will be provided for such travel)

The role is based at Westek’s manufacturing facility in Melksham, 37.5 hours per week from 9am to 5:30pm (or similar) with occasional extra hours if required from time to time.

Gross Remuneration is up to £17-23K basic per annum depending on experience and qualifications, plus performance related pay bonus paid monthly, and out of hours support bonus if the applicant wishes to participate when proficient. The company provides 28 days holiday, optional private medical insurance, and access to a contributory pension scheme.
