We are currently looking for a part-qualified actuarial analyst to join our group finance division . You will be required to assist with all aspects of the actuarial work for the actuarial division or elsewhere within group finance, as required. The division undertakes all actuarial work for Wesleyan and main areas of work include products, valuation, bonuses and modelling. All members of the division work flexibly as a team and may be assigned to undertake tasks for any area. In addition, team members are transferred between different areas from time to time, to utilise actuarial resources in the most efficient way or to widen the experience of the individual.
Key responsibilities will include some of the following ( for full details please refer to the attached job description):
1. Review and update the principles and practices of financial management and customer friendly documents for the society
2. Provide actuarial support for with profits treating customers fairly initiatives, including input to the bonus statements exercise
3. Undertake experience investigations to support changes to actuarial assumptions
4. Carry out the regulatory valuations and realistic balance sheets of all of the society's business in line with prudential regulations
5. Provide actuarial input into the development of new products and changes in product terms for new business
6. Produce revised premium rates, profit tests and other product pricing calculations to ensure that products are appropriately priced
7. Understand, develop and maintain the financial models used for forecasting the society's strategic 5 year plan model
We are ideally looking for an individual with a good actuarial or mathematical degree (either a 1st or 2:1) as well as a number of actuarial exams passed and relevant experience. A strong working knowledge of excel and word along with experience of using an actuarial modelling system e.g Prophet and fantastic problem solving and data analytical skills will be required.
All our actuarial analysts are expected to study for and progress at an appropriate rate through the actuarial examinations.
