Thesis work - Simulation of new assembly process for doors
Göteborg, SWEDEN
Job description
Do you want to contribute to a sustainable future with world-leading transport solutions in an organization where safety, quality, and the environment are at the forefront? If you're driven, curious, passionate about development, and, like us, eager to exchange valuable knowledge, we can’t wait to meet you!
Background
The Volvo Trucks Plant in Tuve, Gothenburg, produces heavy trucks for the global market. The high variation in specification between the trucks produced creates many challenges and the engineering team in the plant is constantly working on making the process more efficient.
If you are passionate about process simulation, this is an opportunity to be a part of a skilled engineering team, helping them deign a future assembly process for the Tuve plant.
Task:
The Tuve plant is planning to create a new assembly process to prepare the cab doors. The plan is to create a simulation model of the new process to help the engineers in the planning phase.
Your task is to collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team and create a simulation model of the proposed new process to prepare the cab doors before they are fitted to the cab. The model must cover the entire process, from intake into the plant until the door is fitted to the cab and the simulation must be able to assess the consequences of changes in:
· Throughput times
· Capacity
· Planned/unplanned stops
· Buffer sizes
Applications must be submitted through job postings on the Volvo Group webpage. Last application day is December 10th.
We require the work to be performed by a team of two students. Please state the name of your partner in your application. Applicants without partner will not be considered.
Main location for the project group will be the assembly plant in Tuve, Gothenburg. The students are expected to spend most of the time on-site, collaborating with the engineering, maintenance, and production staff. Therefore we require at least one student to speak Swedish.
