Supply Chain Design Specialist

The scope for Service Market Logistics (SML) includes Flow Optimization, Inventory Management, Distribution Center operations, Customs & Trade. It also includes the development of logistics solutions to ensure the highest possible parts availability, delivery precision and quality everywhere in the world. Your future team?

There is now an opportunity to join our team at Volvo Group Trucks Operations within the Logistics & Service Development organization of Service Market Logistics (SML). Our international team is one piece of the puzzle that makes sure that the Volvo Group can deliver world class uptime to our service market customers. We do this by optimizing and developing smart logistics solutions for all Volvo Group brands. 

 

This is a temporary assignment for 12 months. 

We are now in an exciting phase with further development and with the focus on continuous improvements in our way of working with flow optimization, supply chain design and driving change.
 

What do we do?

The Footprint Design part of the team is a global function with the mission to secure that Volvo Group has a world class network design for the Service Market, providing the service our customers require. 

 

As a Supply Chain Design Specialist, you will drive supply chain reviews and recommend improvements. You will optimize our distribution center (DC) network to secure right location, number of DCs and correct distribution scope for each DC. The role also includes building and developing models and tools for supply chain simulations, developing supply chain concepts and logistic offers.

 

Other main responsibilities are:

•    Simulating and evaluating how cost and environmental impact is changed with different supply chain designs
•    Maintaining a close collaboration with SML regions, support functions and brands regarding identified and requested improvements in our supply chain
•    The result is presented to SML senior management.
 

Who are you?

For this position we are looking for you with an enthusiastic can-do attitude who enjoys working in a small collaborative team and in multiple networks within an international environment. To be successful in this role we believe that you are solution and quality oriented. You respond to challenges by reaching out to the SML organization and working cross borders. You have wide experience in performing analyzes with large datasets and will use this skill to answer questions in a data-driven way. Further, you also like to build and develop tools and models to improve the way to perform investigations. 

Other key competencies

•    Extensive knowledge and/or experience in the logistic field
•    Knowledge and experience in the service market business
•    Analytical skills and ability to tell a story based on data to decision makers at all levels
•    Self-propelled with execution skills and ability to independently drive and solve complex tasks
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
