What you will do

At Volvo Penta you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. You will: 

In product development projects, we are struggling with product risks and the interpretation of legal requirements and standards. We have existing methodologies for working with these challenges, but they are very time-consuming, and the quality of the results is highly dependent on the experience of the individuals conducting the analysis. With the help of AI, we believe we can build a superhero engineer.

At Volvo Penta, you will contribute to the transformation of our company to become more data driven in our decision making. You will:

Investigate how AI can enhance product development processes at Volvo Penta.

Develop proof of concepts (POCs) in one of the following areas:

Product risks (e.g., FMEA’s)
•    Scenario Simulation: Simulating various failure scenarios using generative models to identify potential risks.
•    Automated Risk Ranking: Prioritizing risks based on severity, occurrence, and detection using AI algorithms.
•    Data-Driven Insights: Analyzing historical data (from e.g., FMEA's and actual reported faults) to uncover hidden patterns and predict failure modes.
•    Optimized Mitigation Strategies: Recommending effective risk mitigation strategies based on AI-generated insights.

 

Interpretation of legal requirements and standards
•    Natural Language Processing: Using AI tools to extract and analyze what is most relevant for the specific project.
•    Requirement Breakdown: Categorizing and breaking down requirements to clear specifications for the specific project.

Create and deliver presentations on your findings and progress.

Who are you?

You are a passionate and driven individual with a strong interest in AI and machine learning. You are proficient in understanding AI concepts, algorithms, and their applications, including familiarity with supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, neural networks, and natural language processing. You have experience in programming languages such as Python and are skilled in implementing AI models and analyzing data. You understand product development processes, preferably within the automotive industry. You have teamwork and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 
Most importantly, you have a passion for applying AI in real-world applications and are excited to contribute to innovative solutions for sustainable transport.
