What you will do
You will participate in developing technical solutions for local and global projects, improving product costs, quality issues, and supporting parts localization for components and systems. You will have the opportunity to work together with highly qualified colleagues, in a global environment and in close cooperation with cross-functional representatives from other commodities.
At Volvo, you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. Your main missions and responsibilities will be:
•Provide models and calculation results with guaranteed quality and propose where/when to perform specific simulations and analyzes (mainly FEA/CFD);
• Draw conclusions, make recommendations using control systems, simulation and function analysis;
• Perform analysis and provide validated results against project objectives;
• Support the continuous improvement of methods and tools;
• Plan, lead and carry out highly complex simulations/analysis;
• Take responsibility for the fidelity of simulations/analysis;
• Support project engineers at all stages of projects for technical solutions at varying levels of complexity;
• Guide other simulation engineers;
• Perform evaluation and estimation of project content to meet schedule and delivery;
• Carry out development of methods and tools.
Who are you?
Do you have big dreams? So do we, and we're excited to grow together. In this position, the main requirements are:
• Solid experience and proven knowledge with FEA analysis (related to stresses, vibrations, fatigue) and CFD (aerodynamics, flow, heat transfer) for technical solutions, preferably in the automotive or heavy vehicle industry;
• Proficiency with pre-processing tools (e.g. HyperMesh and ANSA) for mesh generation and model preparation in addition to post-processing (e.g. nCode);
• Perform CFD simulations to analyze and optimize the aerodynamic performance of commercial vehicles;
• Assist in the development and validation of aerodynamic models;
• Proficient in StarCCM+ software, ANSYS Fluent, Powerflow or similar tools;
• Knowledge in other virtual simulation analyses, such as: crash, vehicle dynamics and NVH, will be a great advantage;
• Fluent in English is essential;
• A difference is a master's degree in the area;
• Knowledge of programming languages (Phyton, Matlab, etc.) will be an advantage.
• Ability to work independently (being responsible for delivering on time and with the expected quality), in addition to having the ability to work in a group, managing different challenges and expectations of interested parties is essential;
• Analytical problem-solving skills are essential;
