What you will do
As an Experienced Engineer, you will develop and maintain technical solutions for Chassis Equipment & Transport adaptation components and systems.
Responsibilities include:
· Take product ownership and engineering responsibility, independently deliver the tasks in assigned Chassis Equipment function areas. Integrate deliveries from other cross functional stakeholders and secure quality and delivery readiness of engineering design releases.
· Perform design activities from concept to production phase, support verification & validation activities, and any corrective actions during design maturity stages.
· Complete engineering activities, drawings/CAD models/engineering change releases, packaging verification, within area of function group responsibility. Heavy emphasis is placed on level of expertise, knowledge, analysis, accuracy, interaction within department and cross functional team members.
· Prepare, support design review for manufacturing (DFM), aftermarket (DFAM) and quality tools related to function area assignment.
· Coordinate with analysis group (FEA, CFD analyst) to verify & validate the designed parts. Determine most optimum approach for actual or potential problems and implement cost & weight effective, sustainable solutions.
· Work with test engineers to support the testing activities, support prototype procurement. Develop plan for accelerated endurance testing of the components/assemblies in area of responsibility.
· Work with Suppliers/vendors during sourcing, tooling development, quality issues, reviewing & approving supplier request for engineering change.
· Provide engineering support for prototype/methods/pilot builds at production plant, corrective action for vehicle audit issues. Resolve factory, assembly, lab, project, product issues as tracked in Jira Product issue log system within area of responsibility.
· Issue engineering work requests for testing, analysis work request, engineering shop work request, rapid prototype, to provide guidance and direction on related projects.
· Assure compliance with applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARB etc) related to fuel system function area.
· Respond to technical reports and provide corrective guidance and recommendations resulting from verification & validation activities.
· Manage, update, issue changes in Volvo product data management system KOLA for timely engineering release changes.
· Work in a cross functional mode with all other line organization team members (Group Trucks Operations/Vehicle Engineering/Power Train Engineering/Aftermarket Technology/Complete Vehicle) to secure technical solutions for assigned function area within Chassis Equipment.

Your future team
Our team, Chassis Engineering North America is the product owner of Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics projects for the Mack and Volvo brands.
Within Chassis, our Design group Chassis Equipment & Transport Adaptation is responsible for Fuel system, DEF system, Fuel & DEF lines, Battery box mounting, Fairing mounting, Cab Steps & back of cab access, fifth wheels, Quarter fenders/Mudflaps, Chassis suspended component function areas within Chassis. We engineer solutions to keep our current products competitive with market demands as well as solutions for products and technologies of the future. Our team is responsible for development & installation of multiple components, systems and complete chassis equipment system solutions for Diesel, Electric, and Autonomous vehicles for Volvo and Mack trucks.

Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
· 3-5+ years of experience in product development in the transportation industry or equivalent
· PTC CREO experience designing parts & assemblies (modeling, 2D drawings, packaging). Applied knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
· Knowledge of product development life cycle, and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of Class 8 heavy duty trucks or heavy equipment OEM experience is a plus.
Preferred
· Experience working in an Agile environment (with product owner or scrum master).
· Previous Volvo or equivalent OEM experience.
· Experience in design, development, testing of fuel system, fuel tanks (diesel, alternative fuel).
