Volvo Buses APAC North is part of Volvo Buses Asia Pacific, one of the leading clusters within Volvo Bus Corporation with a proud history of profitability and growth. It is responsible for Bus vehicle and service market business, partnership with Volvo’s own and private importers, key customers and body build partners, and progress of the Volvo Buses total business within the region. 

 

Director, APAC North Volvo Buses 

 

Based in Hong Kong and reporting to the Vice President, Asia Pacific Volvo Buses, the Director, APAC North Volvo Buses will lead the sales effort and growth of bus sales in line with our commercial strategy that has established commercial bus businesses in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, South Korea and China.  

 

The Director, APAC North Volvo Buses is the Managing Director of the Volvo Bus Hong Kong Ltd. The incumbent will play a role on the Asia Pacific Volvo Buses Management team, partnering with key stakeholders to achieve sales targets, expand market shares and strengthen Volvo Buses brand in the region. 

 

Main Activities and Responsibilities

 

· 
Profit and Loss responsibility for Volvo Buses business and operations (including service market and technical support) in the region.

·  Implement strategic and operational customer-focused business plans to deliver significant vehicle and services sales, ensuring that sales, financial and affordability targets are met. 
· 
Develop and enrich relationships with management of key customers and stakeholders to strengthen Volvo Buses brand and reputation in the markets.  

· 
Provide support to tender activities including managing the sales process leading up to bids/tenders and direct involvement in the preparation of large tenders in the region.

· 
Provide support to the Vice President, Asia Pacific Volvo Buses in the areas of distribution planning, sales execution, distributor management.  

· 
Maintain strong relationships with Complete Knock Down (CKD) assemblers, bodybuilders and bus assemblers throughout the region.   

· 
Develop processes and governance models for the delivery of product fulfilling legal, customers and Volvo’s requirements of quality, reliability and durability and in strict compliance with company’s standards and procedures.  

· 
Guide, develop and inspire a team of managers and employees and engender a commercial spirit in the pursuit of customer satisfaction excellence.

· 
Nurture a culture that generates and sustains team and employee engagement at every level and ensures Volvo is an employer of choice.  

· 
Develop organization structure and staff competencies including support functions and administrative support to markets within the areas of responsibilities. Cooperation with VBC and other Volvo Group functions.  

· 
Direction of press & public relations activities.  

 

Critical Competencies And Experience for the position
 

The successful candidate is a senior leader with demonstrated commercial and team leading experience with the following qualities:   

· 
At least 10 years of progressive regional commercial and business development experience at a senior management level in wholesale and retail operations, preferably from the Commercial Vehicles industry 

· 
Outstanding commercial acumen with strong business and market orientation 

· 
Customer-focused, strategic and forward-thinking   

· 
In-depth knowledge and experience of B2B business across developing markets with complex tenders and bidding will be an added advantage   

· 
Proven track record of cooperation with global body builders and partners 

· 
Excellent communication and presentation skills to inspire, influence and challenge 

· 
Strong interpersonal skills to influence, build strong relationships and manage a complex network of internal and external stakeholders across geographies. The ability to create and maintain a network in the North Asia business environment will be an added advantage.  

· 
Proven ability to collaborate and lead successfully within different cultures across a diverse geographical area

·  Requires willingness to have flexible schedule and travel  

 

Qualifications
 

· 
Master’s or Bachelor degree in Business, Marketing, Commercial or Technical discipline  

·  Complete bus knowledge/experience in managing a bus business  
· 
Retail and dealer development competence  

·  Fluent in English communication. Cantonese or Mandarin speaking is an added advantage
