The Sourcing Global Commodity team consists of highly motivated colleagues located around the world. We work cross‑functionally with Technology, Operations and our Supplier Base to secure reliable, high-value and innovative supply solutions for Volvo CE’s global commodities, covering Powertrain, Hydraulics, EACS and E-mob. Together, we drive product performance, sustainability, and long‑term value creation for the Volvo Group.
Main tasks and responsibilities
· Drive strategic sourcing for engines, engine auxiliaries and cooling systems
· Perform market intelligence, cost analysis, and price benchmarking, supporting well-informed sourcing choices.
· Supported by Technology, engage with suppliers and constructively influence them using strong understanding of off‑highway engines and component function.
· Identify, evaluate, develop, and manage suppliers to meet Volvo CE’s requirements on quality, sustainability, capacity, and cost.
· Play an active role in future technology definition and industrialization together with Engineering, Advanced Engineering, and supplier partners.
· Lead Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) activities across global cross-functional teams.
· Conduct commercial negotiations, ensuring robust contracts and agreements in alignment with regional and global contexts.
· Conduct Business Review Meetings (BRMs) and continuously drive improvements in QSCC (Quality, Sustainability, Capacity, Cost).
· Monitor supplier performance and proactively manage risk, capacity, and long‑term supply security.
· Collaborate closely with engineers, plants, and hosted suppliers to ensure technical compliance and project success.
· Lead and contribute to project management activities from early concept, sourcing priorities, industrialization, to implementation.
· Act as a strong team contributor, supporting colleagues and fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.
· Safeguard Intellectual Property (IP) and promote responsible innovation.

Competencies and Education
Education
· University or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent.
Required competencies
· Strong knowledge of off‑highway engines and key engine components, with technical depth to constructively engage and influence suppliers
· Familiarity with engine auxiliary systems, cooling systems, and powertrain-related technologies.
· Experience in strategy management, commodity roadmap creation, or strategic decision making.
· Strong understanding of contract law and commercial terms, particularly in a China/Asia/global context.
· Insight‑based and well‑informed approaches, supported by strong ability to draw meaningful conclusions from data.
· Solid experience in Supplier Relationship Management and global supplier interfaces.
· Strong customer and business mindset, linking sourcing priorities to machine performance, uptime, warranty, and lifecycle cost
· Strong risk management and proactive problem‑solving capabilities.
· Skilled in stakeholder management, building strong relationships with Engineering, Operations, and key internal partners.
· Proven project management experience, from market intelligence and ESI to industrial and commercial implementation.
· Strong communication and negotiation skills.
· Fluent in Chinese and English (spoken and written).
Preferred
· Experience in Construction Equipment, Automotive, or Commercial Vehicles.
· Background in sourcing for engines, powertrain, or cooling components.
