Job description

Rail Cantech is seeking Occupational Health and Safety Advisor for its project management team building the Ottawa LRT Confederation Line Extension.

The project is located in Ottawa and is divided into two extensions to the existing Confederation Line. The East Connector adds 12.5 km of double track from the existing Blair Station to the suburb of Orleans, and the West Connector adds 14.5 km of double track.

The challenges that await you:

Under the supervision of the QHSE director, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the prevention management system. In your workweek, you will perform, among other tasks:

·  Establish and verify health and safety procedures;
·  Create and maintain an active interest in health and safety to eliminate accidents;
·  Analyze risks and propose solutions to eliminate them;
·  Monitor the implementation and compliance with preventive measures.
·  Ensure the planning and follow-up of internal audits and "SST visits"; follow the implemented action plans,
·  Assist employees in managing deviations and corrective and preventive actions;
·  Establish reporting on occupational accidents and other health/safety indicators;
·  Support various departments in the continuous improvement process in occupational health and safety;
·  Ensure the updating and dissemination of documentation (e.g., site security, work procedures, instructions, etc.);
·  Monitor compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
